Got new shoes for the KJ

Well it was that time,replaced my well chewed up MT/R's(darn rocks,tree roots,and rear flares :twisted:

) with a set of Truxis MT's size 265/75R16's.Time will tell if I like them,so far so good with only 12 miles on them.

(no the puddle of oil under my KJ is not from my KJ)

What have you done to ensure that the 265/75 don't rip your flares off? bumpstops and such?

Only had problems with the rear flares so I just took them off for now.I have 2 1/2" bumpstop extension in the rear that came with the my SkyJacker lift but that didn't help.

Keep in mind that he's been running 265/75 MT/Rs for over a year through some of the hardest trails that the Colorado Rockies can throw at a KJ.

Gotta see how I like first before I dish out for the 35"s!So far I'm impressed,I have some brakes now they are a little lighter then the MT/R's I had on but only 2-ply sidewall,I'll see how they stand up compared to the 3-ply sidewall MT/R's.They have some major grip on the hardball :shock:

!!!!!!! And yes they are noisy as all heck! Score some cool points for that,I like noisy tires.

Looks really good. I would only use them for the trail though, that is just too much truck for a daily driver

Maybe not in KJ terms, but in Colorado terms that is a mildly built daily driver...seems like 50% of the Jeeps out here have 35"+ tires and they're all rollin down the highway at 80 mph. :wink:

Yep,my KJ is bone stock compared to most of the wheelers you see around here going down the highway.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I LOVE the look, and the idea of go anywhere, anytime is awesome to me, and I'd love to have that rig. IMHO that is one of the sharpest rigs yet.

But with gas the way it is, and as much as I drive, I know that with my stock goodyears and 17's I get almost 20 mpg, and with my MOABS and MTR's I get 14 mpg, and on a military salary that adds up really quick.

I might shoe my moabs in some new AT's though. I'm not as big a fan of MTR's as some others.

No doubt about the gas adding up fast on military pay!I would get a little hooptie to run around in but that would take away from the SFA fund,I can live the gas bill,plus I can't stand to be in a car anymore,feels like my butt is dragging on the ground :lol:

I would have told them to put the weights on the back or the rims. it takes away from the look especially on a black rim.

Just paint the lead weight matching color.

You can do that with static balancing but for a true balancing the wheels/tires need to be dynamically balanced,there are weights on both sides.It's a nessecary evil to get good tire wear and not wear out the bearings,balljoints,and tie rod ends.My old fake beadlock rims had to be static balanced because you couldn't put wieghts on the outside bead and shoock like crazy no matter how many times you balanced them.Plus the more aggressive the tire the harder(and more wieghts are reqiured sometimes) to balance.

Yes plus at 80 mph you cant see the weights anyways, or if you get some dirt/mud on the rims you cant see them, so better to have a great ride than not see weights :wink:

I have my weights on the inside, steel rims and 31" tires no wobble and no intrusive metal ruining the view.

You also have AT's,wheel wieghts don't bother me at all,they serve a purpose so I can live with the site of them.
