I installed spidertrax to get my MTR's off my Al's arm last night. Now its off the arm but REALLY on the pinch weld and the front outside fender well.

I know how to go about doing the pinch. No problem there.

The question I have is about the fender. This isn't the black plastic on the inside but the heavy painted plastic of the fender that come around inside the well. Can I heat this up and remold it or am entering the realm of trimming here?

You guys that have faced this by running wide tires with low backspaces how did you solve this problem other than putting an Arb bumper on the front.

I am planning that for next year along with lockers.

either trim or remove the fender liner completely. You could try heating it and bending could work. I just removed mine.

On a side note, where did you order your wheel spacer from and what did they cost you?

What size of spacers are you using. I have the 1.25" and I'm clearing the fender but I had to cut the hell out of the liner. One thing I did with the pinch weld: I made 3 cuts with a Dremel going across the pinch weld. That was the only way I could get it completely flat.

Send back the spacers and get some cragar soft 8s through jegs and you will not have that problem no more. It will actually be cheaper for 5 rims as opposed to 4 sets of spacers. Just trim down the front bumper and you will be "good to go"

2005 Sport with "STUFF"

Steel is heavier then aluminum if you are worried about gas that might be a problem. I was thinking about selling my wheels and getting some spacers for the stock wheels.

Got them direct from spidertrax and they were 99.95 a set plus 12 bucks to ship them from Co. I had them in 4 days.

I have two sets of rims already. Both aluminums with 5.5 back space. Got an old (new) XJ set of 4 and my 5 renny stocker got my MTR's on.

I had a set of soft 8's 15's but didn't like how close they were to the calipers so i sent them back. i got the 4 XJ alums for a song off ebay. Way cheaper than four cragars. I would still have the problem cause i needed an inch extra backspace to get off the a arms and that would put me in the well.

Exactly, I am losing enough MPG with the MTR's. I would have had to buy five new rims cause I wanted a full size MTR spare and not the dinky 235/70 I had. Plus I live in the rust belt and those steelies would be a nightmare. I would have to get chromies. The XJ rims are bright silver and look sweet. I can't wait till the 235/70 I have on them wear out so I can get some light 245/75 at's on them.

The spacers are great casue I get better stance with BOTH my rim sets, and they look good too!

The spacers do make a huge differnce in the looks department. I put one side on and then stood back and WOW!! It brings the tires right to the edge of the fender almost. Got mine in two days also, (used) from a guy on ROF, what a deal!
