I need to find this source again.....but this was the jist of it.

A 2006 petrol honda puts out more particulat emissions from the tires wearing over 50,000 miles, than the engine does.

California already has lawn mower emissions requires, I have no idea how that works.

I also came across another factoid a while back, driving your 1987 suv into aspen and back from denver, puts out just as many emissions as running your lawn mower for 30 mins.

Which means we could help the environment by putting large boulders where our grass grows and go Rock Krawling in our front yards.

Or basically just stop watering it and let it die.

Grass for grass-haters:

Prairie Nursery No-Mow Mix

Takes more effort to get it established, but is low- or no-maintenance once established. If you're looking for a golf course lawn, this grass is not for you.

So I wonder if my lawn mower or my cows are the greater villan? If I mow the lawn with the cows is that better or worse? I suppose better since the cows will do their thing whether on pasture or grass. It might put a crimp on going barefoot though.

cows will also self fertilize the grass.

I think the problem is you would need alot of grass to make that work

Im looking for something that doesnt require any water to look good. Like rock. Or Cactii.

I dont use grass for anything, it only costs me money to maintain, or looks bad if I dont.

Zero scape all the way.

There is no definitive research to show that Nox is harmful to the environment. But the US government wants to limit it anyway possibly because it causes more petroleum to be burnt up through EGR systems, lower MPG = more taxes. what has been demonstrated is that CO2 causes global warming. If I can decrease total petroleum usage by 15-20% in my jeep by disabling the EGR then I am making a definite contribution the the environment because that is 15-20% less CO2 (not to mention the decrease in particulate emissions). If I use Biodiesel I am producing zero new CO2. The moral of this story; disabling the EGR is good for the planet and bad for the super polluting oil industry as well as the politicians who receive their paychecks from them.

I still see what I consider to be liberal viewpoints being thrown all over the place. Shift your paradigm.

I learned the hard way as I was screwing the preachers daughter but dumped her because she was a liberal. LOL! :)

I'd guess a good 50% of the people who bought CRD's did so for environmental reasons. So I guess those folks are not welcome on the forum?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrogen_oxide#NOx

Please keep in mind that NOx has been studied as a pollutant for far more than vehicles, and yes it is fairly conclusive. Real world examples are easily found, power plants in China have nearly zero NOx controls and have massive amounts of acid rain and smog surrounding them, while in the US since we cleaned up NOx output such problems have largly dissapeared. It is not in debate.

Oddly enough, CO2 is *not* proven to cause global warming, that much is still very much in debate. Major problems with the theory abound. I do believe in global warming, but its not nearly as 'proven' as NOx is as an atmospheric contaminent.

I have addressed your statements on BioDiesel in the Alternative Fuels forum, btw, and will not rehash them here.
