My parents are in town this week and wanted to take them up wheeling. We took Red Elephant up to Bill Moore and then out the normal way to Empire. We skipped Mill Creek, but it was a fun day.

I did end up getting a bad noise coming from the driver's side suspension. It has me worried because I just can't pinpoint it. Everytime the suspension droops there is loud popping noise. There's nothing wrong that I can see...and I've checked out the ball joings really well. I'm thinking it could be the strut going bad? Any ideas?

Do not remember, do you have Al's Arms?

If so, it could be the bushings on the arm at the body mounts. Mine popped the welds holding the bushings into the arms broke and it popped when the suspension flexed rotating the bushing in the arm grinding the broken parts of the weld against each other instead of the bushing rotating on the bolt as it is supposed to. If your bushings are pressed in, then this won't be it.

I think that's what's going on. I now see some bare metal when I look at that area. Can they be re-welded or am I SOL?

MOAB 4x4 Outpost welded mine, then the welds broke, and Marty re-welded them, so yes they can be rewelded, but even then they could break again. I drove mine that way for a year with no damage, ony the occasional pop when I hit bumps hard.

Did you have to take them off to re-weld or is that something Marty might be able to help me out with real quick?

They need to be removed to be welded.

Well, I would help you, but I have been banned from jeep work, or much of any work. Marty won't even let me do much.
