Post subject: Saturday, July 14 Trail Run - Loch Lomond
PostPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2007 7:45 pm
Hey All,
Just thought I'd start a new thread for this run to give it some specifics... Denise and I ran Loch Lomond today. Good news: the trail is clear! The large snow drift that covered the trail last week when Marty and I were up there has receded. There were 20 or so vehicles up there so I'm sure we won't be alone next weekend. But it was 20 degrees cooler up there!
Denise and I will probably be camping up near the Loch so we can do some hiking and not worry about driving after cocktails. You're all welcome to join us. I'll be bringing my Coleman camp stove/grill too, so if anyone needs anything to cook on, I got ya covered. But don't forget your bug spray, fishing pole, raft/canoe and SUNSCREEN!!!

As with other runs, lets start a head count to see where we should meet prior to the run.

That should be automatic article 15 or courtmartial! Only way that would be more disrespectfull would have been if they were smoking and burned the flag!!!

Well, looks like RL is not going to be able to go, too much stuff to build. So I am out unless anyone else from the springs is going and wants a passenger?

Wow, so, looks like just you and me KJ. Funny, we aren't even LOST members! It'll be a LOST Outlaws rally of 2. Fun. So, maybe Denise and I won't camp out up there... We can go do Loch Lomond trail and explore some others.

The boss just redid the schedule and I have to work 3 of the next 4 weekends, so I'm out. This is my last month in CO, at least I get paid double time.

Yeah, I was thinking of going out for a cocktail after the run anyway, so Denise and I may stop by the Cheshire.

So, seriously no one else is going tomorrow?

If you are interested, KJ4ME and I will probably be leaving Aurora for the mountains around 10am. Reply here by then if you're interested in coming...

Sorry guys, can't go on this one, and since Ted is all crippled up, he can't go either. The two of you, if you are the only ones that go, will do just fine. I have a million and one things to do this weekend, and need two months to do it all. Plus I haven't had a chance to work on the heep to make sure the overheating issue is resolved, and the ZJ is broken (torn unibody), and I just inherited my dad's 83 Ramcharger, and it needs some work before it goes very far out of town. Oh, and if people don't buy anything, I can't either.:D Have fun, and we'll get the next trail run figured out here real soon. I really think we need to get up to Chinamans gulch real soon. Time to show these newbies what wheeling is.

Well, have fun, wish I could go, but can't drive according to Doc, and the wife won't let me sneak out

Take pictures, and if either of you have a GPS that you can map the trail and save to a computer, and print out the trail, or that will have points I can plug into my unit, then please track the trail. Man I wish I could go!!! This is so not fair!!! :x Stupid doc knows me too well, and had to tell the wife I couldn't drive, because he knew I wasn't going to tell her.

Sorry COP! I don't have GPS, not sure about KJ, but probably not as this is his first trail experience. Actually, I don't think we're going to do Loch Lomond either... I've been up there the past two weekends, and KJ is a little nervous having not been out yet. Also, the trail was rougher the second time I did it, and there's usually some traffic to deal with. I think we're gonna go explore west of Central City a bit, but I'll try to keep track of where we went.

What all do you use for your tracking? I am thinking about getting some good software that will map as we drive, just not sure what to get. I don't do things cheaply so I would want top of the line at a reasonable price. I'm gonna have Marty make me a lap-top mount to hang off the cubby above my glove box, so I'll use my laptop, software and bluetooth GPS antenna for the mapping. This may be down the road a bit though. I'd also like to install a remote controlled pan/tilt/zoom HD still or video camera for taking pics and video while on the go. Again, when funds allow.
