My fiance and I were leaving Chandler to meet some friends for lunch and then head home.

Well, while heading westbound (north) on I-10 coming up to Warner this lady in a White XJ comes right over and smacks the side of my KJ. Needless to say I am upset, but I end up holding my own lane still. Then she pulls up next to me and starts to flip me off and mouth some not so very nice things to me through the window.

When we could finally pull over, her bf or whoever he was jumped out of the car and looked at the mirror that was hanging from hitting me. Told me it was just a mirror then jumped back in. I checked out the KJ and found some damage. I let them know not to go anywhere and that I had damage to my vehicle and the lady starts jumping out of her car and getting belligerent with me again. My fiance had to call 911 to get DPS out there and once she saw that we weren't screwing around she broke down and wrote out her insurance & driver's license info and told me that the only reason she even changed lanes was because of some brown car moving into her lane. I understand what she's saying, but since there was not contact between this brown car and the XJ it really doesn't matter. Anyway, it kind of surprised me that she went off on me like that for her hitting my vehicle. WTF?!?!?!

Always call police. My next cell will be a camera phone. A hit and run just like this happened to my friend last week and another one last month. People don't care anymore. Cell phone and CCW. That is my advice.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Mike. Glad DPS got out there too. At least she stopped. Down here, even if they do stop, they have no insurance and play the "no speaky Engles". and blow it off like it's no big deal.

Haha... Sure does sound like it, but no. She's an AZ driver that has been "driving 36 years without as much as a speeding ticket".

I am former law enforcement & I can tell you that the damage (although sore to me when I look at it) is minor & I felt I would get more cooperation if she didn't get a ticket for unsafe lane change + maybe a few more that I would dig up. The CCW is your call, but I never carry anymore. If I feel that I am in that bad of a bad situation then I will back out and call someone (usually a friend with a badge & a gun).

Thanks... I'm just glad it is only minor and that nobody was injured. If she would have hit harder and possibly injured my fiance then we definitely would have had problems.

Yea, AAA really surprised me with their response time. He was probably hoping someone would get tased. :D He did suggest I go ahead and draw a diagram of the collision for insurance.

I definitely hear ya on the "no habla". That always annoyed the crap outta me on the road. Usually that meant I got to tow their car for a 30 day impound though.

Even if it's "just a mirror" it's something around $100 for a new one. Glad to hear you kept your cool and it will be taken care of. Karma baby!

It used to be said (in the rural parts of AZ) that the Phoenix area was where folks trained for driving in Los Angeles. :D  :D

Even though I was born in the Phoenix area (Luke AFB), I much prefer my rural traffic. With that said, it's only a few months until the blue hairs return. :(

Glad to hear that it wasn't worse. Y'all be careful up there.

Hey everyone... Thanks for the words, definitely glad it wasn't worse.

Well now the lady wants to handle the collision between us & wants to cut me a check. I'm cool with it so far but I told her that I will be getting 2 estimates on repairs, 1 from her own insurance companies body shop & 1 from a shop that I know. Her insurance company doesn't want to pay out for the minor repairs and actually told me that maybe I should go after their own client civilly for damages. I was totally shocked when the guy told me that. Guess I should have expected it though. Anyway, that's the latest and greatest.

A little something for you Burchie...

HEHEHE!!!
