As stated previously "OK HERE WE GO AGAIN" thread. My libby is saggin in the rear just a lil bit. Has anyone ever replaced the stock rear springs with 3" lift springs from other company and gotten rid of spacer? Or does everyone just go the easy and cheap route and get coil insulators and stack them? I believe that the quality of ride will change but in the end it's all worth it going with the new spring. I think it will get it as close to stock rake just a lil higher in the air. I hate the fact that it sits level. What ideas do you guys have? If anyone has done either of the two would you please send pics and info(how much, how tall, what kind) I am really getting tired of the way it sits. 8) Thanks Ert

YOu have Rustys budget lift so it is a rear spacer and stock spring right? If you are trying to keep it cheap, just install some more isolators to bring the rear back up. If you want to spend some money then buy a new set of springs and lose the rear spacer. It still might take an isolator or two to level it.

Yeah sound like spring sag but I have never heard of it in the rear only the front
lots of questins should be asked befor a real answer can be given
the cheep easy route is just go with the new upper spring pads

The questins that come up are
How old?
How many miles?
what shocks?
what struts?
what size tires now?
going bigger?
any after market bumpers?
will you be getting any?

This all matters if you want a good true answer not just the cheep easy way

I am answering all those ?'s. I have had the lift for 7 months and estimated 5500 miles. the rear shocks are the cheap ones that i got with the kit from rustys the struts up front are completely stock with the spacers on top(between the top and the fender well. the tire size is 265-75-16 I dont plan to go bigger just want to raise the rear to get back to stock rake. I dont have aftermarket bumpers or anything I do plan on putting on fog lights in the front you think those will pull the front down enough...ha ha ha. when I drive and get into the throttle I can feel the booty end drop way down and I dont like it. but I dont want springs so stiff that i lose comfort and the ability to stuff the wheel into the fender. thanks Ert

I am not so worried about the lift info
I was asking about the jeep
if you have a lot of milage on the jeep then you also have a lot of milage on the springs and yes springs can go bad
as you can tell they sag
I would be willing to bet that IF you have spring sag then you also have bad struts
on top of that if you were to put new springs out back you would have a poor ride up front ,bad spring
there realy is no good answer for you ,you have big tires for most any lift other than a Frank but that lift cost a lot

there are 2 things you can do
get new stock springs
or get a frank with OME springs
either way it will cost you a bunch and if you go with stock springs you MAY still need new struts

I have basicly the exact set up and if anything my rear is just a tad bit higher.

When I installed the rear spacers I was instructed to remove the spring iso pads and discard them, but I kept them in case you would need them.If you were my neighbor I would run them over to ya,and maybe help you install them. 8)

Has anyone ever heard of putting on grand cherokee springs if so what ones and where to get them. I have no idea if the ones from an ZJ or WJ would work. Let me know if you find anything. I have read that somewhere but finding it again may take a while. THANKS Ert

If you have alot of weight in the rear the OME HD springs would do great.

I would get rid of the rustys OTT lift though. Not good news at all.. :?

Until you've had the Rusty's OTT lift installed on your Liberty,it's really not nice to tell EVERYONE else to get rid of it. The only reason I haven't told you that you should get rid of the OME stuff,is because your satisfied with your set-up. 8) :?:

Why would I ever install that lift if I knew it was going to destroy my suspension? :?

Thats my point exactly....you've never had it so you really haven't expereinced it destroying anything.I have and do have it and all it's done for me is saved me about 400.00.bucks.
Or maybe an easier way for you to understand .....I took a class in Human Relations back in high school, and one thing that my teacher taught me was that "Expereince is as close to truth as you can get"so,if you have'nt expereinced it,how do "YOU" know it's true. So to sum it all up,you may be better off telling people that you "Heard" it would destroy your suspension, rather than saying it "Will" destroy it. :?: .... :)

I by all means did not mean to make you upset lilred..

Its just kinda a proven thing around here that an OTT lift will mess things up. They allow for to much droop which will let the upper balljoint hit the spring and it also cause Pre-Mature shock failure since the shock bottoms out before the upper A-Arm hits the bump stop.

Again, Im not wanting to make anyone upset..

Oh.....you did'nt upset me Blake,I'd never get mad at a senior poster.
But really,I don't know why,but I've never had the balljoint contact that I keep seeing in all of the other peoples photos. :?: Most people on here, like myself, really don't do alot of hardcore wheeling so the OTT mainly on the road, and light trail riding,is a cheep alternative. We just need to seperate the difference between the ones that want to rock climb, from the ones who just like to explore the country, and advise according to there wants. But no....i'm not upset. 8)
