General Rule is for every inch you go up, you should go an inch out

2 inch lift, 2 inch wider wheel base.

You can accomplish the second by wider tires (go from 225/75/R16 to 255/70/R16 adds 3cm's or just over an inch to the width), changing backspacing on the wheels (like the Moab 8 inch rims adds 1.5 inches on each side), adding wheel spacers (commonly 1 inch on each side to stock wheels) or a combination of all three.

I've been running a 2.5" lift on stock rims now for about 3 years and I feel confident and safe driving my newborn son around in it. The KJ holds up well in accidents and is stable during cornering as long as you keep in mind that it is an almost 5K pound SUV (mine at least). The only time I have ever felt tippy is on the trail and that was because I was pushing my KJ quite far and it would have felt the same way no matter what I was driving at the time. Hope this info helps.

Alot of it depends on the lift. You can actually increase you stability by lifting the vehichle if you go with a stiffer spring. I have never noticed a stability issue with my CRD.

I personally have rolled a KJ, a high speed one at that, and walked away without a scratch or a bruise. The KJ was totaled.
She was my daily driver as well as my trail rig. I had a 2" lift and AT tires on her, with skids and bars.
The roll over had nothing to do with the mods that I had done to the KJ, it was totally driver error. As long as you remember what you are driving and how you are driving you will be fine. The KJ, just like any other SUV, is going to have a higher center of gravity and with that a more possible chance of rolling over, lifted or not.
These are just my experiences and opinions.....

Doesn't seem to roll over on trail (fingers crossed)

Seems okay in an interstate curve at 90 mph.

Anything can roll over if you are being stupid, trust me I rolled a VW bug once,... being well....stupid and well just dont do what I did and drive  I think the KJ is plenty stable out of all the 4WDs I have driven over the years

They are stable, but any lifted 4x4 should be treated with respect as they are a high center of gravity vehicle not a miata. Comon sense goes a long way, if you use it, you will be fine. Have fun and enjoying and they are better than alot of 4x4's when lifted, say a sammy or bronco II.

We take our two children (Chihuahuas) with us when we travel. They sleep with us every night and eat the best organic dog food we can find.. I think I’ve got the issues………………or maybe we just love our dogs. We do not have any children, so I guess they are like our little children.
