Where hyedipin left the flange on you can have them cut that out also and get rid of it, unless someday you want to try and take it apart, we cut mine out and no problems, just a suggestion

Tom

Left it there because in case if I get tired of the flowmaster I might put the stocker back on, then I can have them cut that off.
I keep the stock muffler in the flow box. It is in the garage now.
Does anyone have good tips on where to get some nice tips :) I didn't trust the tips they sold here, I don't want it melting my bumper..

I have the FlowMaster 40 Delta and it went in beautifully. Used a plasma cutter to remove old, added about 18 inches of new pipe to take up the difference in length, and migged in the new. I put the muffler all the way back and the pipe forward thinking that the rear wheels riding over obstacles would raise the muffler past most problems that way.

You had to line up with the heat shield, according to the warning in the flowmaster box.

This is a little OT but I have an odd question. I've wanted to replace my muffler with a Flowmaster for forever. I decided on the Hushpower II since it's not so common and little louder and deeper than the 50 series. Jeepin' Al had one on his KJ and said it sounded great.
Here's the things, though...it looks like this:

I want to take it to a muffler shop and have them cut out the old one and weld this one in. What will they have to do on-top of having to add extra pipe (to make up for shorter length muffler) to fit this 2.5" center inlet/center outlet muffler? I'm guessing to install it correctly they will need to add an "s" bent pipe to correct the piping from the center inlet/offset outlet positioning into an in-line setup? Am I correct? Anything else?

They may have to make a short bend, depends on how long the muffler is, but any good shop shold be able to take care of it for you. May have to do a bend in front and behind kind of divide up what they have to do

Its not one piece from the cat-back. It is from the muffler back though. I personally believe its a waste of money to buy a cat back system. Just a muffler will do it.

So, inquiring minds want to know why he didn't paint the muffler. Maybe he found that woman before he finished!

I paid about 45 bucks for an exhaust shop to cut off my stock muffler and weld in a glasspack. I actually kinda dont recommend going glasspack. I had two of them on my V8 dakota pickup which sounded great but on the KJ its just kinda...not that nice. I'm going to get a real muffler like a flowmaster or something put on ASAP. It sounds a little better now that its burned in, but at first it was really "ricey" sounding like an angry but annoying honda civic or something, mainly because it was loud but muffled/muted, if you get what im saying.

Then you go with 50 SUV series.. It is very low and not loud at all!

Is it me.. or this thing is getting quieter... Jeepjeepster also said that, but it feels quieter, since I put 250 miles on it..
Plus it is still cooking something, I smell it.. wonder if that's normal.

haha, the cookies?!? Yea, the smell is normal and will go away after awhile.

And I do believe it gets quieter due to the heat and cool cycles. I cannot explain it yet. :?

It is very quiet this morning.. It is raining and this morning it was 60 degrees.. Shouldn't it be noisier when it is colder...
It felt like I didn't change the muffler at all. Strange. Also something I noticed, revving with neutral doesn't make any difference at all. It doesn't have the roar. But when you hit the gas and start moving, then you hear it. That's also interesting. (Sorry no drag racing start-up nosies here.)

YEY, I finally got me self da cookies!! :D
