Jump starting my in-laws' Sea-doo at Bear Lake in Idaho.

Image

I was at Bear Lake with my whole family for a reunion. My wife's parents have some cabins there, and let us use one for a few days. They also came out with their ski boat and Sea-doos--gotta love in-laws that will share their toys!

But one of their Sea-doos wasn't working, and the one in this picture was having problems. We rode it for a while, but then it stopped running, and we killed the battery trying to get it running again. Rather than give up, I thought, "Hey, we only need about a foot of water to start it, and I can drive my KJ into a foot of water easily!"

We got it started and rode it for an hour or so, then it started having fits. So I got to drive into the lake again and jump start it, but this time it just wouldn't go. But driving into the lake a second time was fun! 8)

Seriously, what CAN'T these things do??? :D

Well, that picture is taken at a "beach" of sorts, where there's sand that looks and feels just like sand at a beach on the ocean. It was actually pretty firm where we're standing, but you could feel currents washing sand away from under your feet, so the KJ probably sunk 1/2 inch or so while we were out there.

The slope of the beach is very, very gradual for about 50 yards. You can't really tell from the picture, but I was actually about 20 yards out from the edge of the water, and still only about a foot deep.

It was fun, though. :)

Is that pic being submitted for the Rig of the Month? After all the theme is "Beaching"

With my luck, I would have hit a spot of quicksand and sunk.

This is the picture that should have won "RIG OF THE MONTH". Can I get a second motion?

I'm sure there's a few LEOs here that would have something to say about it as well.

Oh, give me a break. The spot where I drove in was the exact same spot that we had backed the trailer into to unload the Seadoos. I just went forward instead of backwards. It was perfectly legal.
