Bob Nardelli has been named Chairman and CEO of Chrysler , Tom LaSorda will be the Vice Chairman
Interesting that Mr. Nardelli left Home Depot in January due to a wage dispute and also the fact that Home Depots share were in a big slump! Wonder what he can do for us now?

You guys being a privately owned company will have a lot to do with it... No stock performance to meet, Cerberus will just keep handing out the big checks [the guy likes to get PAID!] and we'll have to see...

I'm sure that Eric Reidenhour left for this particular reason but everyone's being tight lipped right now.

BOB NARDELLI PUT THE HOME DEPOT WHERE IT IS NOW PRE BANKRUPTCY. I WORKED FOR HOME DEPOT FOR SEVEN YEARS AND IF YOU SHOP THERE YOU CAN SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. WALL STREET HAS DOWNGRADED THEM THREE TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS WHICH IS MAKING IT HARDER FOR THEM TO AQUIRE LOANS. NO CASH BANKRUPTCY!!
HOME DEPOT SHOULD COME BACK STRONG BUT IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME. THE NEW CEO FRANK BLAKE BROUGHT BACK THE ORIGINAL OWNERS TO HELP OUT. IF BOB NARDELLI DOES FOR JEEP AS HE DID FOR HOME DEPOT WE ARE IN TROUBLE! BUT MAYBE HE HAS LEARNED HIS LESSON.

I wouldn't necessarily blame Nardelli for the troubles facing Home Depot right now. When you started seven years ago, 2000 is exactly when the credit bubble started to metamorphorse into the housing bubble.

Without the insane building pace to prop up HD and LOW, there's nowhere for their earnings to go but down. Nonperforming stores will be closed --- it's as simple as that. Have you walked into Home Depot stores where the employees are actually available to HELP YOU for once? Wow, when did that happen? Oh wait, late 2006 and 2007 right when the bubble deflated. Hmm, coincidence? I think not.

Look for all industries related to RE to start to show horrible earnings in the near future. Don't look to blame individual CEO's of those affected companies --- not their fault. Americans have been on spending spree for far too long and now that the housing ATM's have stopped giving out money, look out.

But what is the motivation behind hiring Nardelli into a field that he has no prior knowledge of?

Granted he likes his paychecks, I've learned that his salary is supposedly $1USD per year + bonuses that are linked to the companies success. I'm still not sure it's a good move - I'll have to phone a couple of friends and get their "off the record" input to help gage my feelings.

If he learned anything while poking around at the top of GE......maybe there is hope.

A management job is a management job ... it would be different it it were technical job, IMHO.

Yes you dont have to know the business to run the business per se, only have good people who you can trust to tell you what must be done etc

I dunno man, there's a lot that goes into running a car company sucessfully. Iacoca was a car guy when he fixed Chrysler back in the early 1980's. Bob Lutz has been bounced between Chrysler and GM in hopes of fixing each respective company.... Dieter Zetche did an OK job with the LX platform.

Maybe it's the wave of the future? a former Boeing CEO running Dearborn and now the former HD CEO running Auburn Hills? I just don't buy into it
