the fuel filter on the KJ is supposed to be a lifetime filter,I don't buy that,I change mine every 30,000 miles.Since the fuel filter also has the pressure regulator built in it's pricy, over a $100 and located on top of the fuel tank, yes the tank needs to be dropped or rip the entire rear carpet out and cut out the "trap door" on the rear floor pan to get to it.

yea but you go form lifetime to 30,000 miles. Thats a big jump especially when its not a cheap part to replace though.

Not saying your wrong but do you have any reasons as to why you feel it needs to be done that frequently?

All other vehicles I've ever owned have been replace the fuel filter every 30,000 miles,so why stop now? You never know what's in that cheap gas you all like to find and put in your tanks. Also you pretty much replace everything else every 30,000 miles according to the manual any way why not the most important filter, next to the air filter.
