Can't tell, is that bedliner, undercoating or hammer look paint?

Interesting look

Guy over at jeepKJ did basically the same thing with his '05, except he painted instead of Herculined:

Very cool, now, we are going to wait for another rock to crack your bumper, so you can do that as well! :)

Did you sand it before or did you simply spray it on the grill?

Sanded the hell out of it and rolled it on with the roller sold by Herculiner.

About killed myself sanding that thing, but really roughed it up

Can you detail how you removed the grille? I can't find the places to remove screws from, besides the top three and the tabs around the bottom.

As I recall, there are no screws, it has 3 or 4 tabs and in the middle and two latches near the headlight. Other than that there are tabs at the bottom that just slide out once the top is loose. thats it.

correct, no scews on mine, tabs on both headlights, 2 tabs on either side of hood latch. use a slotted screw driver slide under tab and squeeze the two pieces together and GENTLY pry it ou. will pull forward and then lift out.

RE install is reverse, WATCH OUT ON THE SIDES where the fenders are and the contact with the grille, can scratch.
