cdiekhans,

How do you plan to handle the locations of the wheel weights when you get new tires?

they look great, but any time your rotate the tires your SHOULD have them balanced, or at least every other time, so the shop will remove those weights and put new ones on, and i will bet they wont go where the old ones were. did you paint under them and the re-apply them?

Yeah, I was going to lightly sand & re-apply a coat in the fall... Have a couple of cans of paint left...
I also have a few paint pens
That is one good thing about black, you can't even tell

Don't get me wrong I love having a nice looking liberty and I do clean it all the tiime, but this is not a show car, nor will it ever be. I bought it brand new in Jan 03 and it all ready has 113,000 miles. It has been from New York to Oregon.. in the Atlantic Ocean. & up Mt Hood. It has also driven through multiple cow pastures with crap everywhere...
If it's not perfect, That's Okay. It's reliable and has not failed me yet...

Well If it lasts half that long I would be suprised.. I mean It is spray paint.. :D
But on the plus side it cost less that $40 to do all of the wheels...
These rims are out the door in a year or so anyway. I just wanted black rims Right now, and I had $40 in my pocket... I'm trying to save up for the ARB bull bar, so 200-500 for new rims was out of the question for me..
Thanks for the comments
Chris

That's cool man, lookin good.

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks great too. Thinking about doing that to my shiny 07 wheels.

Glad you are using her to her fullest and not just a "Show Jeep."

I'd like to see Moabs done like that. I'll wait for the first person to try it. I like the way they look now but they might look awesome black also.

Im curious to know what you did for the prep work before you had the flares and lower area Line-Xd. did you take the flares off and also spray the area beneath the flares, and what about the door moldings?

I have posted this before:

Okay, So All of the fender flares, rear bumber, and the door "bumpers" were all the original Gray Plastic. Like the front bumber is still.....
The roof rails were powder coated black... Just sanded down to smooth...

First I took off the fender flares, rear bumber and the roof rails and had them coated at Line-X. I believe they may have Scuffed them up a little before applying the primer.... Which was a bulldog primer that sticks to plactic etc....
After they were done being Line-Xed.
I put everything back on..... Including about 50-60 plastic rivets. I had to get all new rivets....Got them Online, along with a plactic rivot gun....

I was going to order new "Door bumpers" and have them line-Xed , and throw the others away...But new "door bumpers " were more expensive than getting the entire bottoms of my doors Line-Xed. Plus I had a lot of scratches from trees along the bottom... Not any more......

Anymore Questions..... feel free to ask..

If anyone is going to get this done to their Liberty and If you don't like scars...
I suggest filling any deep scratches with a filler or something like Bondo.......
Line-X is a "Coater" not a "Filler"

I have a nasty scratch from a tree on my front driver fender... The Line-X made it look a lot better but there is still an indentation.
I was going to fill it with Bondo before I went, but I kinda like it there... I remember the exact tree and trail I was on when I see it....

my Line-X dealer was very reasonable... they threw in the roof rails for free since I sanded them down and taped them off.....
It was also cheaper because I took all the parts to the dealer and they didn't have to "Mask" my jeep.... Except for the bottom of the doors
Also I told them that I would be back with a metal bumper........
Just the Line-X was about 500....
I also bought all new plastic rivets, plastic rivet gun, and the Front fender clips....
P.S DO NOT BUY THE RIVETS FROM THE DEALER!!!! I think they run about $2-4 A PIECE......
I ordered mine from KEYTONE online...
The gun was $28: Part Number MA48000
and the rivots were $8 for 20:Part Number MA48150 I suggest buying 3pkgs
Hope this helps.................Chris

Also if I read your post correctly, you had your KJ Line Xed while the door moldings were still on the doors?

Wow, I would have thought you would have had to take them off. The moldings on the doors look great like they were sprayed separately... well that one less thing I have to worry about when I get mine done. Now to choose a color, since my KJ is white................

which moldings are you talking about....I had the fender flare portion of the door sprayed seperate and it was off of the jeep. But the plastic door guard that is surround by all metal was sprayed at the same time the door was....
check out my car domain for pics
