Thanks Ron. I have some RTV laying around somewhere, I'll use that. Here's an odd coincidence. Today as I was coming out of the hardware, I noticed a puddle under the KJ. My first thought was I'd done some damage to something during the lift, but then I remembered this discussion. Popped the hood, and there it was:

Water was dripping out, so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to do. :)

It is with sad news that I update my thread... After 1 year and 2 months of dependable service, my replacement resistor block failed on me today. The temperature was mid 80's, high humidity and all A/C condensate was draining properly.

Dealer parts guy quoted me an honest price of $16.25 for my new replacment.

I love this forum. My A/C just went out and only the #4 is working. The temp today was 102 and will be 104 tomorrow. I had no idea how to fix it and was afraid the dealer would charge me my first born son to get the job done. Thanks guys. You rock.

They do charge you your first born. My dealer charged like $20 for the part, and then $80 in labor!!! It was awful! Next time it breaks, I am definately fixing it myself! No way am I paying $100 for some stupid <$20 part! It was awful. But it has been a few months now, and it is working great!

Just replaced the resistor on my 05. Piece of cake. I took out the screws and removed the whole unit before struggling with the latch. Btw I'm an awful mechanic and with these instructions anybody can do it.

It is good to hear this thread is still doing some good. And saving some coinage for Jeepster Peeps along the way. :pepper:

Still a useful thread. Had mine go out over the summer (only 4 was working) and just fixed it last week thanks to this thread. Worst part was getting the old resistor to come out of the harness despite sliding the red tab. Just be patient and it'll come out eventually.

10 minute repair. Cost $22 and change including shipping from ebay.

Thanks!

Just replaced mine (£35 in the UK = $56 - and they wanted $112 to fit it).

Only problem was I couldn't shift the red locking tab in-situ so unbolted the assembly and managed to slide it out, turn it around, and push the locking tab out from the bottom.
