is the rl rear bumper and the factory hitch not connected to the same places? the frame rails?

The Tomkin rear bumper for the XJ has a class III 2" receiver hitch in it, why can't RL's pull close to the factory one?

Easy, price would go up, because he would have to pay some engineering firm to put an "official" rating on the hitch, that and insurance would go up for the bus to back the rating on the hitch.

no, i did not have to flip the spare bracket...
i have noticed that it does not sit flush with the backend... i think it's because of my accident.
so i might have to jack up the back end and tighten those bolts uber tight...

I guess it depends on the rim and tire combination. I thought I saw somewhere on here that some people had to flip it and space it out a little with washers to clear both the bumper and the rear glass.

Looks great,

Anybody else who has one of these, did they/ do you plan to trim the well wells?

I plan to do a lot of trimming

But at 2.5 and 31's you do not need to trim anything except the length of the rear flare, and the inner fenderwell liner if you want. I left mine as a psuedo mud flap.

I just cut mine where I thought best. I didn't have the RL instructions though, so I don't know if they are in it. Personal option, I guess.

I put the bumper on then I put the flare back on over the bumper. Next I used some masking tape to mask off the line. I then stood back and made sure the line I masked looked good. Lastley I used a razor knife to cut the flare along the masked line.
