Newbie question,

I bought my 2006 CRD used a couple of months ago.

How can I identify if I have the "Trac-Loc rear end"

I want to know if I need the additive.

Thanks

Find some grave, Ice, etc. Floor it, see if just one wheel spins.

You can request your build sheet from jeep.com and it will list if you have trac-loc or not.

Unless I am mistaken Trac-Loc was only available in 2005 in North America on CRD's. In 2006 SelectTrac and ESP became standard on all CRD's and that combination and Trac-Loc were deemed incompatible by Jeep.

Ya, I think Dave is right,,,, with the ESP you cant get just one wheel to spin!

So I will take it that there is no need for the additive in my 2006 dif

Thanks

If I have a Feb 06 build what do I have?

I Floored it and laid a dual patch 15 foot long on dry pavement. Does that mean I have a some kind of axle lock.

No! That just mean you have a heavy foot.

Besides the heavy foot you have a 06 and it has ESP as it cams as standard equiptment in the US and therefore you do not have track lock

Second that. 2006's don't have that useless feature.

Do I understand this correctly?

DocB,
That is exactly correct, no friction modifier needed. Besides, if you had an 05 with factory Trac Loc there would be a tag on the differential indicating so.

Thanks Tulsa,
I was getting ready to put the additive but won't now.
BTW- if you did use additive on a non-Tracloc rear, would it hurt any?

Not right away. You would know if it needed it anyways. Lots of snapping and popping.
