I did my first oil change in my 05 last night...I drove the front tires on the ramps and let the fun begin . About 2 or 3 minutes into it I heard this noise coming from the rear...it sounded like a small compresser and it only stayed on for like 15 seconds. So I went back to work and a few minutes later there it was again...it kept doing that throughout the oil change. If I didnt know any better I would have thought I had airbags that were trying to level the car out. Any one know what this noise was or expirience it themselves??? By the way, why would Jeep put the oil filter there ??? It was in a much better spot in my old 03 Lib.

do u have the crd? Or did that re-do the filter on the 3.7 for 05? That noise u are hearing is a self test pump that kicks on to check for leaks in the evap system. I hear it all the time too. The pump is on the front of the gas tank i believe. Lol no its not air bags, i wish it was though.

Yeah, I knew I didnt have airbags...it was just what the noise reminded me of. Thanks for the info though, thought I was hearing things. No I dont have the CRD...they moved it on the 05. It was a pain in the butt to get off!!! It probably didnt help that it was first oil change and the factory tightened everything down way too much...

That put them on really tight from factory. Where did they relocate them too? And finally, are u a girl?

03 Freedom with some neat stuff done to it that I learned about here.

I will have to take a picture to show you where they relocated it. On the 03 that I had I didnt have any skids either so that made it a little more interesting...but it was really just a crappy location. I think that DC is making it harder to "encourage" you to go to the dealer to get an oil change...
And finally yea I am a girl...why do you ask?
