4th Annual OBX Run - October 5th-7th, 2007
The Mid-Atlantic / Carolina ""L.O.S.T."" Annual romp along the Outerbanks of North Carolina. No skids, No lift, No problem. The run is on Saturday and leaves early in the morning. The group will travel up the coast, on the coast in the white sands of the OBX, past fisherman and lighthouses. Around noon we'll stop to grill up some lunch and maybe catch some dinner. Bring your beach toys or fishing gear. After a long lunch, we'll continue up the beach until it's time to go find a place to eat. Get a hotel with the other ""L.O.S.T."" or camp down near the beach. Sunday is yours for playing or going home.

We will be taking the Ocracoke ferry to start out with.
Meet at 8:30 am on Saturday Morning at the Ferry

Most likely going
1 ) LoganSix
2 ) uvalax236 (+ horde)
3 ) dirtykj

Maybe going
1 ) EngleCRD
2 ) W3CSX

Can't go (weenies, posers, and other losers)
1 ) dog_party
2 ) KJ Willy
3 ) sstenner
4 ) Ugg

Communication
Channel 36 CB and FRS (CB preferred)

Where to meet
We will be taking the Ocracoke ferry to start out with.
Meet there at 8:30 am.
There is a gas station in Frisco near beach ramp 49.
Somewhere on the beach later. Just listen for the CB chatter.

Where to stay
On Friday - Campground in Frisco ($20 /night)
On Saturday - Campground in Oregon Inlet ($20 /night)
http://www.nps.gov/caha/camping99.htm
The camp ground has clean toilets and cold water showers. There are off the ground "fire pits" and picnic tables. Camping surface is sand. Usually one or two tent areas per campsite. Paved road around the camp area. There is a dune between the beach and the campsite. The site was pretty quiet and very dark at night. The noisest residents are the crickets. I believe they took credit cards (the campsite, not the crickets).

Hotel
TBD

What you need
Bring a cooler for your lunch on Saturday.
I'll have "The Grill" for cooking at the waters edges.
No special equipment needed for your Jeep. 4x4 is recommended, not sure if you can do it in 2 wheel drive.

Daniel...I know your coming this year. You gotta get that WJ out! Now lets get a real list of people going this year. How it has gone the past few years:

First Year: 5 Jeeps
Second Year: 6 Jeeps
Last Year: 4 Jeeps

Lets try and at least get up to 6 again! This is a great time to go wheeling and know for sure that nothing is gonna get broken (Unless your name is Cody in a primer YJ and snaps the U-Joint not 40 yards into the sand!). MORE MORE MORE!

You can't do this in 2WD :) I tried. Didn't get very far in the soft sand. If one of you guys show up on Friday before 6:30PM you can buy fresh seafood (fresh shrimps, clams) off Howard's pickup truck at the convenience store on Lighthouse street.

We'll probably go with you guys but we'll base camp at Ocracoke NPS campground again. It's lovely there.

Please clarify: do you want to meet at the ferry going to Ocracoke or coming from Ocracoke (i.e., do you want to take the northern route or southern route to get there) ?

Discuss! We have run Ocracoke every year in the past and loved it. We could do Ocracoke in the morning and the rest of the beaches (Frisco, KDH, Kitty Hawk, etc.) in the afternoon. Any other opinions?

There were some spots on Hatteras island where you could find nice large seashells. I vote to go there. We need to replenish our supply of shells and eggsacs. :P

I'd also love to paddle the Ocracoke inlet (take ramp #72, south all the way around the tip, turn right onto the inlet and get to the sand bar).

Google map here.

It's nice and peaceful ... great for the kids or kid-at-heart.

I will be taking off that Friday, so anywhere near campsites is what I prefer.

I just might be able to make it this year. Put me down on the possibility list.

We rented a cabin at Frisco Woods Campground last year so we didn't have to haul all the camping gear... turned out to be really nice! Unfortunately, we probably won't get there until very late Friday night. Planning to stay through Monday so we have some time to fish on Sunday!

Definitely need more people!!!!! C'mon!

Would love to go, but I will be in the UK during that time.

Don't get back till middle of Oct. Will diffently be looking to wheel in the Nov timeframe.

Unfotunately I think you are going to have to move me the the weenie list... uncle sam decided he needed another grand of my money for taxes and it kind of wiped out my play in the sand fund, along with any other sort of play in the jeep plans I had. I was really looking forward to the fishing too.

If I hit the lottery between now and then I'll be back on the list.
