A salesman at Airpark Jeep in Scottsdale stopped me on my way to the parts department yesterday to ask how I liked my CRD. Apparently the guy is taking a survey because anything good I said about power, towing or mileage, other customers had topped it. He said he'd really like to buy one, but there weren't any around, besides the last one he'd sold (with 34K on it) sold for the same price it was new! He thinks Chrysler missed the big market with the Liberty and has priced itself out of range for most with the diesel GC. Says about future and production, "They're not telling us anything."

A 05 Limited with 1600 miles on it was just sold for $22000 this week from my local dealer.

This should have read 16000 miles.

In this area I saw 2 CRD's for sale (briefly). A Limited with 10k miles for $27k and a Sport with 18k for $22k. Both of them are gone from the lot so I assume they got what they were asking. Yikes!

Yea, that's retail. Most are interested in trade in prices. Way lower.

Better to sell private party - trade in with any car is lower than PP sale 99% of the time.

Why would anyone do the comparison using trade in values? Its not like a dealer is going to trade in for the same price they can sell the vehicle for. Private party and used car lot sales would seem the appropriate comparison. If anyone wants maximum value for their Jeep, they'll sell it to a private party.

In Scottsdale, you also have a very rare situation-- people have very good taste in automobiles and they are willing and able to pay whatever it takes to get exaclty what they want. Airpark sold most of the CRD's in town. I looked for a year and they always had more than the next dealer by at least a two to one margin. They dealer traded for them and kept quite an impressive inventory of them back in the day (they had 15 when I was looking weras the only other dealer in town with CRD's had just two). So Airpark sold a ton of them to us car snobs, we talked them up and our friends went down there to buy one. I doubt highly that they could have sold a used CRD in Mesa for that much, however.

I see you went there to get parts. Be carefull of the parts department at Airpark. As it is North Scottsdale, they feel special about thier parts and change about 5-25% more than other dealers in town (before taxes). I always get a price from another dealer in town, or on the internet, before going to them to buy a part. Then I negotiate its price accordingly. At least they have parts in stock, must other dealers have to order them.

My service advisor at Airpark runs and hides when I show up. When I track him down you can see bullets of sweat pouring off the guy. They have had to lemon several CRDs and the service advisors are a bit gun shy of anyone with a CRD. Funny too, I bet the CRD the sales rep sold was a lemoned CRD and the dealer got money out of it twice! Three times if the customer lemoning it bought another vehicle from Airpark to replace the CRD. The sales department must love those CRDs but the service people are not fond of all the warranty/recall work they have had to do on them.

Yeah, because two recalls above and beyond the gas versions in two years is murder on a service department. Especially since they get compensated and all.

They get very little money for warranty/recall work. I am about on a first name basis with the service department manager. Some repairs they do ok under warranty, others they do not. They take it in the pants trying to diagnose problems with these things-- it eats up hours they see no money for.

I'm sorry your dealership is apparantly incompetant. I've not had such problems. And my dealer says they get paid standard shop fees for warranty work, and compensation for all parts. Regardless, even if yours is somehow incompetant, it dosen't change the fact that there have only been two extra recalls in two years with the CRD vs. the gasser. No big deal, in other words.

The lot I purchased from is practically begging Chrysler to release a CRD for the 08, they sell well here in Seattle and their service experience has been exemplary.

Your are obviously continuing your other post, which I did not really get around to responding too. Sorry about that. I will respond there. Thanks.

I bought mine at Airpark and the service was exceptional. However, it has recently gone down and when I talked to the parts manager he badmouthed the CRD when I brought it up. He didn't know I had one and did not have anything good to say at all about them. The service has been good though. Eric Leis was my guy and Brian Erdmann is my guy now, with Eric being the more accomodating of the two. I've had a front diff and CV go out and they were both fixed for free. Check out Eric the next time you go.

If you're in the Phoenix area and want your CRD taken care of beyond any reasonable expectation, take it to Earl at Bill Luke Jeep, I-17 and Camelback: 602 336 1561 is his direct number. See the posts under good dealer sticky. Someone drives over from So. California for their service!! When I was shopping for a CRD, I didn't like anything about Airpark and have since avoided it, even though it's the closest dealership to my home. It was only a $9. breather hose. I'd never go there for anything serious.

Quick search of Autotrader showed 5 CRD's for sale in the Chicago area, four 05's ranging from $16,962 (40K sport) to $20,995 (42K sport) and a 2006 Limited for $23,995 with 17K.

Not bad pricing, but not consistent. Some dealers don't know what they have, or don't want it on the lot.

Seattle area has three listed, one at $20k, one at $23,700 and a Limited for $26k on Autotrader. I paid about $24k for my Sport, and it nearly matches the $23,700 one in features.

Thats not too shabby for a nearly two year old vehicle
