Yep, That is correct. All plugs get pluged back in(except fuel heater for me anyway) and after 3 cycles bye bye CEL, hello get up and go!

Enjoy!

I don't know about the 3 cycles as I just took my scanner and cleared the codes.
I'm at about 8000+ miles on it now, in Phoenix heat, and the box has worked flawlessly. I sure love the power and pep....

I've been running this for a week now and it is very nice to have the CEL off and the control valve smoothing down things.

I have to shout out a huge thanks to LocoCRD for helping me through the process, and of course Turbo Tim for the invention.

I did mount mine inside the vehicle cabin much like Loco's, and I also put an inline fuse on the power (3 amp) for peace of mind. This little box really does get hot, and my buddy who soldered (finally got pay back for two exhausts I welded up for him) it up for me felt that the three chips may be temperature sensitive. I don't know, but I drilled out the box for a little ventilation. I expect to hear from the collective that this may not be a good idea, but darn is that little box hot.

Anyway, so far very good. I'll have some milage figures after I get a couple of tanks through it.

Thanks again!!!

Gila,

That aluminum heat sink really helps. It is really just a piece of aluminum stock that the box is bolted to and then it is bolted to the dash mount bracket. Ranger1 did a similar mount to his and we both experience a significant reduction in temperature.

Finished soldering in the harness this morning, and no more CEL. A big thanks to both Tim and Dennis for the time that went into this project, and for helping me through a couple of trouble spots. Hope to see better mileage; that is if I can keep my foot out of it...:

I am getting started on my kit. I don't have a CEL burning. I guess this is a good thing?

I keep reading you guys have had a CEL what am I missing?

Some of us already ran the off road mod by just unplugging the sensor. so we have had a cel that was either always on or we had to clear with a scan gauge. now it is a thing of the past. I hadn't run with it disconnected much, had it in the stealership a couple times last month and don't have a scan gauge so I left everything hooked up since this was in the works. If you have never run this mod before then get ready for more power and better mpg.
With me, no CEL meant I wired everything up correctly.

I have two questions about this kit before I start building them for others:

What are you using to crimp the connector pins?
Are the wires supplied with the kit?

There are no wires included with the kit. PM me with your email address and I'll send you the mechanical build intructions if you want. I crimped my pins with some pin crimpers and then soldered then too.

Question: I got everything soldered up ok and am preparing for the install.
I looked at the wiring diagram by billNiss and got a little confused. I'm good with the
PC board diagram and the harness splice diagram, but what about the "bypass" unit?
I presume this is so you can disconnect the ORM for trips to the dealer. Where would
I get a connector half and pins to build this part? Or do I disconnect the harness side and
just keep some jumper wires around to shove into the holes as seen in the diagram?

BTW, this has been a great experience for an electrics novice. Thanks Loco and Tim.

The connector (and pins) you will use for the bypass is the same one that is used on the ORM Circuit box. The only difference is that there will be no circuit on this connector, only 3 jumper wires. Those 3 jumpers put all 3 sensors back into the original configuration. Does this make sense?

O.K. I get it. I wasn't sure if I just used jumper wires or
if I was to build another connector half with the jumper wires
in it for when the ORM was unplugged. Thanks.

Is there an advanatge that this offers over the Edge module I already own? I get more torque and mileage with it. I have an opportunity to buy an ORM kit from someone locally, I am just curious if it would be redundant.

Thanks.

The ORM kit disables the EGR valve. Has nothing to do with the Edge module. Apples/Oranges. If you unplug the MAF connector (the wire plug on the top of the air box), that does the same thing but you will have a CEL light on your instrument panel and you won't know if you get a CEL for some other problem. Pull the plug and drive it for a week with the CEL on and see if you like it. If you do and are not concerned about the install procedure for the ORM kit then do it. Or you can live with the CEL being on. Or you can buy a scan tool, leave the MAF unplugged and clear the code each drive with the scan tool. Life is full of options, ain't it grand.

My father-in-law and I have successfully built the 'SEGR' (ORM KIT). I'm now looking at where I want to mount this sucker and how I want to intercept the EGR, AFC and MAF wires. Is there any way to do this without hacking up the wiring harness? Are there any wiring harness extensions out there? i.e. a mini harness that sandwiches in between the ECU and the main harness? That way I could hack into the extension.. and then remove that harness extension and there would be no evidence of tampering.

Several of the folks on this board spent a good bit of time doing just that to (looking for such a beast). In the end, it would be financially unrealistic to create/procure all the adapters. It would actually be cheaper to completely replace the harness with a new one. The good part is that for the most part, the kit just requires splicing in and extending wires. The work can always be removed and covered with a bit of heat-shrink and the wire loom covers all :)

Can I still order one of the ORM kits? How much and where do I send the money? Thanks

I am in talks with a company that builds wiring harness extensions. Last one I bought from them (for another car) was very reasonably priced... I don't know how much ours will be. I'll keep everybody posted.
