Hey what about the LTD owner I've already paid to have a "Pinion Reset" done and I don't think anything has changed... "Got booked for doing 47 in a 40 zone" also I used to get 400km per tank now it back to about 370. When off road I always buy 98 octane it gives more grunt and more klicks.
Is thier any fiddles I can perfom on my ECU to get it to recognise that 245/70R17s STT's are larger than standard??

I think the guy that did all this for mine said that the "limited's" dont have as many or any other tyre settings than 235/65/17 or 245/65/17 as they have the 17inch rims, there is less options in their original software.
On the way back from Coffs following Fros, I found that by his GPS mine was about 3 km slow, so I might get mine altered by a couple of revs per mile, but that was with WELL worn STT's, there's only about 4mm tread depth left, they have 15mm deep tread when new, so that means I've lost abot 20mm in overall diametre so thats a big difference in itself. That would easily account for 3-5 km out.
The main reason I did the alteration was for the running of the cars engine and gearbox not somuch having the speedo read right. The closer to correct the better your ECU will work. AS far as a work around, I don't think there is. unless there is a computer genuis out there that can crack the code used in the kj and make it so as we can access all vital ECU setting with a laptop (wouldn't that be cool). If the sofware in your kj dosn't have the options then unfortunatly its aftermarket devices that are needed. You can get a speed contol module that goes inbetween your speed sensor and ecu, you then alter the signal given to the ecu to dial in you actual speed. That would work fine as its the reading the ecu gets tht matters. I have read here somewhere about these controlers. can't find it at the moment.
Trick is to find a service guy that ACTUALLY knows what he is doing. I was told it was impossible to change mine, "can't be done" were the exact words, but, then I found a guy who did do it and it takes 5 minutes, that includes the time it takes to walk to the car.
