Just seeing if any of you guys are interested in running some of the passes over here in Western CO. (Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass, Hurricane Pass, etc.) The snow will be starting to fly up there coming toward the end of October so it would be cool to get some people to run one (or two or three) of those. I know those aren't terribly difficult but if more people are interested some tougher trails would be cool. There have been reports of one or two of them near Silverton :lol:

I will be running either Engineer or Hurricane pass around the 27th of September but will also be considering doing the other in early October.

I would love to explore that area, but can't afford a trip that far, too many other things tugging on the wallet, and it is college football time, so I "get to" work security for all of the home games. I love overtime... oh wait, I don't get that...

I will be in CO Springs on the 27th but I am scheduled to visit with my W CO dealers on 10/1. So I would be available (and in W CO) on the 29th or 30th (30th is better).

I won't be able to make it but Black Bear Pass (if open) is the best. Just an amazing trail. Don't let the descriptions scare you, it is really not that difficult. I've done it 3 times. Completely doable in a stock KJ. A stock KJ was on it one time I was running the trail. I've done just about all of the trails in the Silverton/Ouray/Telluride area and Black Bear is by far my favorite. Pougkisee followed by the beginning part of Engineer are the most difficult.

Um, yeah. Guy I work with said he did Black Bear several years ago and has no ambition to go again. Said it is doable but very stressful because of the ledges. Darryl will understand when I say 'Death Trap'. Scarry!

It really not that stressful unless you are very afraid of heights. It might be a little disconcerting if you have never four wheeled before or driven on a road with sharp drop off. However, It is far from being a 'death trap.' Alot of people like to oversell it and turn it into some sort of legend. There are few tight switchback and that is it. Rampart Range Road or the road up to Pike's Peak has the same drop offs and is just a bit wider in some places. I've seen full size f-150s w/ extended beds make through without a problem.

JL... any interest in trying Black Bear Pass? I would be good to go if I can just find a couple of MTR's

Anyone have any recommendations for other trails in the area to do in case of rain or if BB is closed? I haven't done much here other than puttering around easy Durango trails.
