In NH they have jumped up to $3.00 a gallon from $2.79 in two weeks. Anyone know why Diesel is now higher than Super?

Heating season is soon upon us. Increased demand for home heating oil which is nearly the same as diesel. That would be the official story anyway. It is up about ten cents here too.

They've not changed at all yet here. Still floating at $3.00 a gallon all summer.

It's $2.85 here in UT, I've had to pay much higher in CO.

Here in florida is at $3.00 a gallon seems to me that food prices will go up even more too.

I hope that the next President will keep the diesel price down...

40 cents a gallon higher most places around here RUG $2.55 Diesel $2.95. This isn't a good time of the year to try and sell a diesel!

We inherited a very nice low mileage Infinity and it takes Premium so now both our vehicles run on the expensive stuff. But both are paid for so I am not paying the bank too.

Unfortunately the president doesn't have much control over fuel prices all the big oil companies are non-US based. Some of our politicians would raise fuel taxes to "force us to use less fuel to "save" the environment. But truth is cows cause more air pollution than cars. An why don't these people promote bio-diesel? It's cleaner and cheaper!

Just curious. Why do people that heat with oil use natural gas or electricity cheaper? many years ago when I was growing up in the Chicago area a lot of poeple heated with oil but were starting to switch to gas or electric. I lived in the UP of MI in the early 70's and a lot of homes heated with oil but it is much less common now. $3 a gallon to heat a house ouch!

Everyone seems to forget their state's involvement. Missouri has a lower fuel tax than Kansas. So.... Kansas is the one "stickin it to ya" just as much as any thing else.

Since I drive semi interstate, I have to factor the fuel taxes into a gallon to figure out the best price. I can get diesel in Illinois at 3.05 at the pump and yet it is cheaper than buying it at 2.90 at the pump in Indiana. Sounds goofy, but true.

The one thing that gets me in all this, is that such a large portion of the cost of a gallon are nothing more than added taxes. Imagine paying 20% or higher in sales tax on every item you buy like fuel is taxed. Yet no one is throwing a fit with the state or feds over that but want to vent only at "big oil". True, big oil is not as pure as the wind driven snow, but government contributed nothing in the research, development, refining, and shipping of fuel. Only taxed the crap out of us to pay for tea pot museums in S. Carolina and bridges to no where. It probably wouldn't be so bad if it were not the fact that only 50-60% of those collected fuel taxes are ever allocated for keeping the roads and bridges in shape. Over 40% of the fuel taxes are wasted on BS spending on programs unrelated to transportation.

Okay... I vented. Everyone have a great day! :)

Kjfishman, you ask good simple questions that have complex answers. Do your own research as that is all you can truly believe. Look at the concept of "peak oil". Compare the known world oil reserves to the world oil consumption and see how much time we have left. Look at the net energy obtained from biofuels and the tax subsidies, oil required to produce it and who benefits from its production. Look at fuel taxes, in real terms, and look at our failing infrastructure and the cost in taxes and energy to restore it. Look at how much new oil reserves the oil companies have found over the last few years and what it cost to find it. There is a reality here that supersedes politics and propaganda.

That is mostly about taxes isn't it. Platte City has been cheaper for decades.

Diesel used to be cheaper than petrol (gasoline) here, now it's around 20c/L more than petrol!

Acutally it is taxes, but the First two stations between me and Platte City are owned by a local to Leavenworth company and they jack up the price as high as they can while people are still willing to drive 5 minutes out of the way to save a nickel a gallon, so they can put the extra 15 cents in their pockets. It drives me nuts. Then there is the fact that that chain of stores (Wood Oil, now called Woody's) was the first to jack up their price on 9-11, and they went up by about a buck before anyone else touched their prices. But thats a different story.

The fuel Tax from KS to MO is less than a $.25 diff, but there is usualy about a $.35 diff in fuel price between here and Platte. Only reason I can think of is the Interstate.
