I got the Libby back today and the work order stated that the regulator came apart. It was replaced under warranty. I wonder how many Chrysler has had to eat? I wonder if the crappy part will justify the savings of using it versus a decent part in the long run.

Mine bit it at 28K miles. Lame.

Fixed under warranty.

I also had the drivers side rear window fail after a day of mild to moderate off road driving in the Sierras.

I took it in to the dealer the next day and they replaced a window regulator.

Sounds like an under engineered part. Its odd that we have all the the same one fail. I wonder what in the design of the KJ puts more stress on the drivers rear than the others.

My driver's side front window failed half-way into a day off roading last month. A loud "pop" when rolling back up and tilted forward. I was able to help push it up into position. Took it to the dealer and was told the "window actuator" was broken, part was back ordered and replaced the next week. Probably just a bad design. But I'm definitely not a fan of power windows to begin with.

I guess nothing on a vehicle should ever break/wear out from normal use.

Piece of crap - I would sell it!

It's a poor design that breaks with little use; not a normal wear-and-tear issue at all. Mine, with all of 6,000 miles on it, has had 3 of the four window mechanisms break. The service advisor tells me they stay very busy with Liberty windows. When I went in recently, he said they fixed eight of them yesterday...of course that would have been on a Monday, so folks had a whole weekend to break them from "normal use."

P.S. He suggested I call the Chrysler Customer Center (1-800-992-1997) to lodge a dissatisfaction complaint with them...he says enough of this type of complaint and maybe Chrysler will do something about it.

My rear passenger window is stuck in the down position. Making clicking noises... so it is mechanical.
I will use this to test my "extended warranty"

Problem being, they don't screw the threaded plastic end into the threaded channel far enuff, or they do and further handling results in it backing out by at least one full thread, prolly caused by the natural curvature of the flex-shaft - I de-riveted the replacement for the required correction - maybe it'll hang awhile.

I have had the windows on my KJ get stuck but not break. Usually the pasengers side but the drivers side followed shortly after. This happene3d in the first 5000km then it happened again just before 10K now I am at 13K and they are doing it again.

Each time I have taken it in they say that nothing is broken they just needed to be greased so they don't get stuck on an angle when going up. REALLY annoying that I have to take the Jeep in every 5K to have the windows greased!!!

Going to drop it off again tonight and pick it up tomorrow with my freshly lubed windows!!
