OK so a little while ago my right rear window came loose and basically 'fell' into the door. I can slide it up and down with my hand but it seems to be disconnected from everything else. I pulled the door skin off and here's what I found:

The window is still attached to its guide on the little white plastic slide. When I push the button to roll the window up and down, the red cable you see does move (so it isn't the motor). Any advice on what I need to reattach in order to fix this?

I just took my Liberty to the dealer because my window moved with my hand and not with the motor. Before they worked on my Jeep they said they have seen this before and they suspected the “window regulator”. The window regulator at the dealer was $130.00 but once replaced the window works fine again.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Oh maybe 100 times.Yes thats a pretty common problem.Looks like the cable in the regulator broke.IIRC the regulator assembly comes with a new motor, hence the cost being a little high.I average changing a couple of these a month at work, and changing one out is really not that bad of a job.

It happened to me with less than one year on my liberty.
Check out JJ's post on how to do the install (isn't this forum great?!)

slightly o/t...durangotang (or anybody else who has removed the large white plastic sheet that covers the inner door)...how did you get it off then back on? Does the black adhesive stay sticky after its removed from the door, or did you have to use something else to reattach it?

Thanks in advance.

That stuff is a nasty slimy goop (technical term)...it stays far too sticky and goes back on easily.

Thanks....didn't want to take it off the plastic sheet without knowing how to get it back on.

Mine did this crap on Friday night on the interstate. Went down, but not back up. Now the motor makes a special chattering noise when I touch the switch. Figured that the cable popped out or likewise, but if I have to get a new motor I'm not gonna be pleased. Stupid Chrysler.
