They are no higher then the gasser springs(you'll gain no lift unless you have a ARB front bumber on stock springs, then it will raise it back to stock height),they however have a higher spring rate(stiffer) to hold up the heavier desiel engine.I believe the gasser fron springs are about 300lbs springs and the CRD fronts are 410lbs,10lbs stiffer then the OME HD coils.

The CRD springs are 500 lb springs.

They should give alittle lift since they wouldnt compress as much seeing how they are a higher spring rate. This isnt a good way to lift since it will cause it to ride rough unless you have a bumper or something.

Maybe , Maybe not...if you are getting front end dive under braking or serious "suspension creep" off road (where the middle of your KJ moves down to easy and hurts ground clearance) then the spring "might help". Like stated above tho...if you have added some substantial weight to your front end, they might help a bunch.

I just don't know of anyone that has substituted them for stock springs...so it is all a guess.

I can not see where the stock CRD springs would be that "rough" I drove mine for a while with the OME HDs (before the ARB) which are 400 lbs and thought the ride was pretty good, although I never did like a cushy marshmellow ride like some anyways
Some one try it and see how it is!

I guess I'm going to be the guinea pig. I bought the stock CRD springs(all 4) from DarbyWalters and a 1" spacer for the front. Originally I wanted all OME springs and I was going to put 2 Rusty's 0.75" spacers (one on top and bottom) with Daystar strut plates. I'll put both spacers on which is 1.75" in the spring, should be about 3" of lift right?

Please give me ideas. I have Rancho shocks, CRD springs, 1" spacers, 0.75" spacers, and Daystar top plates.

I was going to use the CRD springs and 2.5" spacers for the back(left over from my Rusty's spacer lift)

EDIT: Are the rear springs stiffer???

Just a quick update. I installed the rear springs without a lift and they are definetly stiffer than the gas springs. They also gave me about 1/2" lift. I'm going to put on the spacers in the front and a spacer in the rear with all CRD springs. I'm waiting on the arrival of rear shocks for the lift

For anyone wondering, unless you have a steel front bumper AND a winch, I would not get the 500 CRD springs for a gasser. Even then it's debatable. I have a CRD and they are stiff even on mine. They have loosened up over time but I would still not put them on a gasser. My .02

yes I can see using the stock CRDs or the OME Heavy Dutys but I am sure the OMEs for the CRD would be way over what you need, feel like some of the lifts from the old days!

I had a reply from Heather recently stating that the OME 500 lb. springs were working well on heavy gasers with an ARB bumper and winch. I may be going this route for mine in the near future.

I've been using my old RRO combo with the stock CRD springs and a small clevis lift to support my ARB and winch while waiting on results from Heather.

Wrong!
One of those 3/4" poly spacers are going to give you 1 1/2" of lift, and to my knowledge you can't put one on the bottom and one on the top. You could add a 3/8" clevis lift too if you need more.

I was in my garage and put the 2 spacers on the springs and the top plates on, but didn't put it on the struts. It looks like its going to fit.

Please if anybody has had any experience, let me know before I kick myself after trying it.
I was looking for about 3" so I figured 1.75" of spacer lift would be about 3". I would do a clevis lift after if I wanted to, but I think the spacers would be enough, maybe I'll do the clevis when I get 265/75/16's

Where did you dream up this idea, did you read this somewhere?

I doubt you will get the spring compressor to even compress the spring enough to get the strutplate on, and if you did, good luck trying to get the spring compressor out of the spring.

One poly spacer per spring plus a small top strut spacer up to 3/8" or a 3/8" to 1/2" clevis liftshould get you in the 2.5"-2.75" range without upper ball joint contact.

Since I'm using the Daystar strut plates they give you more space, so I don't need to compress the springs that much. The connection for my spring compressor is pretty narrow which allows me to work on the tight KJ springs.
