How do the group buys come about? Does someone feel for interest in the forum first, or try to set up a deal with a vendor first? I just started modifying my KJ and my wish list is huge! I see a bumper thread bubbled up and when I joined a few weeks back there was mention of a possible ARB locker group buy. I'm not looking for a bumper on my practically naked KJ, but I would LOVE some Boulder Bars before winter! Then again, if a too good to be true ARB locker sale happened soon, spring is around the corner and maybe I can get Boulder Bars then?

I don't know about a group buy, but All-J has offered pretty good club discounts in the past in the weeks leading up to the national LOST Moab run in the spring. They may do the same thing in 2005. Of course, you'd have to wait until April.

Group buys are generally a nuisance to manage, both on our side and for the vendor, so in many cases it's better to tie discounts to a specific event (as All-J does for our Moab runs), or as permanent discounts (as Tellico 4x4 does).

Having said that, some of our members have put together some great group buys with other vendors. Generally, someone posts on the forum to guage interest, then goes to the vendor to see if they are interested in a group buy, and to find out how many buyers you need to qualify. I think a majority of the group buys die from lack of interest before they actually go through, but some make it.

Hopefully, as we grow larger, we'll be able to pull off more and more successful group buys.

I have been curious about group buys as well. I really would love to get a gas tank skid, I know boulder bars would be a requirement as well.

I am very interested in doing some group buys, and thought about putting the feelers out. I currently am driving a near stock 04 Sport. Only thing I have done so far is install a Mopar engine skid. I'm looking to purchase rails, skids, and lift here real soon. All the stockers need to buddy up and see if we can save each other some money. Keep me posted.
