Thanks!

The sheetz is off of route 33 west. It will be the only one there. I don't remember the exit # but there is a big sign that has 33 on it.

Couple questions to finalize the trip...1) Is the campsite easy to find? 2) What time do those who are camping plan on making it to the campsite? 3) Are there showers at the campsite? 4) How far is Sheetz from the campsite, so i can get a cup of joe and breakfast?

Tell me what you want me to bring. Since I have a 6 hour drive, I will be staying at the Super 8 on Friday and camping on Saturday.

The campsite is just off of 33 west and is not hard to find, it is however about 45 min. from sheetz. Tallon and myself will be going to the sheetz Sat. morning so you can just convoy with us. I can't speak for everyone else but I will be there around noon or at six p.m.. I am sure that some others like speleorelic will be there a little earlier (Don't quote me on this). The best person to answer the shower question would be speleorelic (I do belive there are showers on the grounds)

And still have a bunch of work on the Ol' KJ to go! So far I changed the oil, filled the fluids, greased the CV joints (that was fun and messy) rotated the tires, put the clevis lift back in (36.5" in the front 36.5" in the rear measured to center of the flare) had her inspected, washed and waxed her (the KJ boys!) and still would like to change the diff oils and the transfer case, don't look like I am going to get to it. Too many meetings this week.

But anyway, I attended (with the KJ) the "coming out party" for the Commander at one of the local Jeep dealers Saturday. The North Jersey Jeep Club (NJJC) piled a buch of rocks and mafia blocks (concrete blocks for a retaining wall about the size of a coffin) up to climb over and impress the crowds. Free eats all day and a lot poeple looking at the Jeeps. Some old lady opened my door and got in to see if she would like to "take this home"!

Now to the real part of my ramblings, the NJJC was contacted by a film company out of NY to do some filming for a up coming DC commerial. I got hold of her e-mail and told her about our outting and that we would be filming it. Her reply is below:

Hi Al,

Thanks for the heads up - I appreciate the offer and am wondering what format will you be shooting in? We will be filming David's story in HD and if we were to leverage any other off road footage it would need to be of the same format in order to match.

Sounds like quite an excursion!

Thanks and look forward to hearing more.

Tara

Does anyone know what in heck she is talking about, and is our "film crew" going to shoot us in this format??

Al

PS: I will be flying solo this weekend, anyone know of a desperate 30-50 year old FEMALE that likes balding, over weight, motorhead, married men who would give me the honor of their company during ride???? No Edgar I didn't mean you!!!!!

I'll defer to Nate on this, but I really doubt that he'll be filming in HD (high- definition). But thanks for trying Al. It would be nice to get that kind of coverage.

On another note: darn I can't wait to go wheelin' again. See everybody on Saturday.

I'm ready to ride!!! It will be great to see everyone again and wheel the KJ. Does the campsite have a name? I'm probably going to take the whole day off on Friday so we should have plenty of time to meet up. Oh and by the way when Sandy sees the latest bill on the YJ I WILL be in the tent. See you all on Friday.

Yo LOST brethren,, and sistern,

I am pumped about the run. Anxious to get out again. Having a ball joint replaced for free at dealer,, and replacing the front struts with Ranchos. Should be done by Wednesday. I am missing West-by god-Virginia,, what a beautiful state,, yea, Virginia pretty nice too,, but just doesn't have the same stigma that WV has

The camp site is very easy to find. The Sheetz in Harrisonburg is just off I-81, on route 33. Heading West out of Harrisonburg(I think it's called Market Street in the city) it will take about 30 minutes to get to the trail head. You'd never find it if you didn't know where to look. Just past the trail is the WV border,, and a few minutes past that is the Brandywine Campground. If you go through the town of Brandywine, WV,,, you went too far. There are no reservation, and it may be full. But there is a group camp area, which I assume is an open field that would hold many campers or tents.

I am driving down to the campground on Friday evening, hopefully before dark. I am taking off work at noon, so should get an early start. Me, and whomever else wants to,, will go straight from the camp site to the trail on Saturday morning. David and Mike will be heading up the KJ convoy at the Sheetz on Saturday morning for those who might be in hotels in Harrisonburg or arriving that morning.

The campground has showers. The campground is closer to the small WV town of Brandywine,, about 10 minutes in the opposite direction of Harrisonburg ,out 33 West. So if you are going to head back into Harrisonburg for breakfast you'll need to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the 45 minute ride in one direction.

The Sheetz to meet at would be the first Sheetz on route 33, heading West from I-81 in Harrisonburg.

It looks to be a wet weekend,, bring your rain gear,,, just might be a sloppy muddy wet cold rainy day on the trails, (Scared yet?? lol) And even colder and wetter trying to stay dry at the campground afterwards. Does that tent leak? Those drop-offs along the trail up the mountain sure are steep,,,, I bet they're slippery too,, especially with the deluge that's forcast. How's those tires in mud??? I ,,, think we can make it ???

hahahaha

get muddy

I dont know specifically what her definition of HD is, but we are using a Digital 8 camera ( D8 ) and can record in either Standard view (4:3) or Widescreen (16:9). She could mean just recording in widescreen on a digital camera. If so, then we can record in Widescreen. Maybe Al, you can email that person, and ask them what exactly they mean?

Edit: Appearently, there are HD video cameras, but they cost $1000+ each...

Hmmm, was planning on just driving up in the street tires. I haven't bought a trailer yet for my off-road tires. Do I need to?

I'll be coming up on Friday and camping. Hopefully I can find the camping place. If you find me, I can cook eggs or whatever you bring for breakfast Saturday morning.

The forecast is now up to 50% chance of rain. :( So you might want to think about popping those MTR's on before you leave, Dean. On the other hand, that could make the stream crossings a lot more fun. :D Dry River may not be so "dry" after all. Is it Friday yet? Can't think of anything else but wheeling. Does that make me a bad person?

Well said Chris. David, yeah...:)

Even if it does rain some, it`ll still be a blast. I remember Grant, David, and me going on Dictum during a nice little storm. That was fun. Rain or shine (or both), it`ll be fun so bring those cameras!
