Well as i was searching on E-Bay, i came across some aluminum diamond sheets for sale and such. So i emailed the vendor and asked if i were to send some templates to if he would cut it and send it to me. He said not a problem. So i asked him about pricing and i am waiting for an answer. I was thinking to get the lower rocker panels and the bottom rail under the doors covered with aluminum diamond paltes which i am sure would look great as well.

IF you are interested let me know. I will keep everyone posted as to what goes down with this.

I have seen this before for the KJ and think it is just really for show. It is just very thin sheet metal that sticks on. later...Clint

i have seen that too. But this is the real deal where you would have to screw it on it or weld it. But i will double check to make sure.

Trouble is that you'll just end up with dented panels and dented diamond plate.

Best bet is to get some high quality rocker protection , that way you'll have a high lift jacking point as well as rocker protection. All J's boulder bars are worth their price. They've been hammered on Rocks that would make diamond plate crinkle and bend your jeep underneath.

Good luck

Aluminum diamond plate is all show and no go. I know, because I used to make and sell lower quarter panel armor for XJ's. You won't see this anymore on my site. 1/8" plate or treadplate steel is the bare minumum I will use anymore for what you are talking about. Aluminum snags pretty easily, and when placed against steel, causes dissimilar metals corrosion, which isn't pretty. If you are going to do it, get 1/8" plate or tread plate steel. I might make them in the future if there is enough interest, but it will be awhile. Bumpers and sliders first.:D

Here are some pictures of the aluminum door guards I started for XJ's, but when I do put these in production, they will be 1/8" steel, but you get the idea because it will still look the same.

EDIT: And I agree, that just covering the rocker panels with steel or aluminum will not be sufficient for landing on rocks. Rock rails/sliders are your best protection, but plating the doors will help for leaning into rocks/trees.
