Alright, I don't know how ambitious this is, but maybe there are enough of us that could work together and get something rolling.

I have a welder and a plasma cutter at my disposal, and I have a good amount of sheetmetal around (I would have a bunch more but one of my customers scrapped out a bunch :( ), along with experience drilling and tapping metal.

My thought is if there are a cople of people around that we could get the materials together and over the course of a saturday or sunday weld up a few slider rails for some libbies.

Either we can work off a blueprint, and everyone can bring their own metal stock, or we can delegate different material purchases to make the project go smoother.

I can probably get the steel pretty easily from my old job at the sheetmetal fab shop, but I figured that it might be a good excuse for a NE ohio LOST meet.

If anyone has better ideas, let me know, here are some pictures of some of my gear:
(well sort-of, my welder is the red one in the foreground, and my plasma is the smaller red thing in the foreground, the picture was a sheetmetal guard I installed in chi-town)

I wish that the miller in the background was mine...

Anyway, my thought is that this coulud go really well if we can bring cut to size parts to the table, and just weld them together... I am good with AUTO CAD and can host prints for peer review.

Hey Mark, sounds like a great plan, even better if you include North WEST Ohio as well!
I can weld things for ....myself and where it will not be seen real well, but have great ideas/ plans in my head / can be on the installation team etc!

Definently include NW ohio, I took east out of the thread title :) replaced with north, but when it comes down to it.... anyone is really welcome.

My thought is that we can see what kind of interest there would be and take it from there.
It would be nice if we could do it before october 15 because my wife and I get our new house at that point and I think I will be swamped  (the house was originally built in the 1850's

So do we have Tommudd on the roster?

depends on when you want to do it, going to Ky for wheeling over the weekend of the 13th. So thats out.

House built in the 1850s sounds great. I like older homes, I have totally rehabbed 5 that were anywhere from 75 to 100 years old over the years, find a lot of interesting things when you do that. Sold 3 of them gave 2 away (to ex wives  )

Honestly, the first weekend (the 6th) in october would probably work for me the best... other than that, I'll probably be tied up until november :)

Well, I dont have very much experience welding, (just a little) but I have a good understanding of mechanical things and can do detailed eng. drawings / 3d models if that would help. I'm just never on the end of actually fabbing things myself. I design... :D Thats not saying I dont like getting my hands dirty, I just dont have the welding skills.

So, anyway, I suppose I'd be in on this whole thing depending of course on when it is and what the cost is going to look like on this lil' endeavor.

I just saw this thread. I would be interested in lending a hand in this process if needed. I'll provide some aftermarket sliders to model if necessary as well.

Do you still plan on working on these DK?

why not plan it for some time early next year. so that way we have more than aenough time to work out all the details of everything. Im in wisconsin but if i can get out for a weekend and get some cheap sliders out of it and a bit of wheeling too im more than willing to help. I works at Oshkosh Truck as a painter and use to be an assembler so i have the bluprinting experience. Plus if someone can get me the tools i can paint the hell out of anything. I can weld(mig or tig). an i have some cool ideas for some sliders. so anyway if we could do this sometime in late winter early spring that would probably be better.
