Just an idea, but couldn't it be possible to take a front mounted hicth that fits another vehicle (say the one that's right for the Wrangler) and adapt it to KJ's frame?

This one specifically is 33" long, very close to the distance between the holes where the tow hooks attach in the KJ.

So, if it doesn't fit, why not attach it to an steel plate and then attach the plate to the frame (one plate for each side)?

Maybe completely wrong, but a thought anyway...

You basically have the right idea, yes.

I've been a welder/fabricator for most of my life so I hope a FRONT receiver design and build will be realitivly easy for me to create. I also have a '472a Willys and I have made quite a few cool laser cut parts available for years to other Jeepers.

I wanted to know if the dimensions on my '06 would match other years so possibly other Libb's could get hitched too with only one design?

I think the inner fender anti-rub bracket might just work. We programmed two different designs tonight and my swing shift crew is punching and forming them tonight for me. I'll have a better idea tomorrow about the design and I'll try and get them installed for a trial run.

Is there any way you could make a hitch receiver to work around a Detours' Backbone system? I'd like to have both options.

I dunno, I don't have a Backbone System to review/study. If I had one...?

I do really like that Backbone System idea though and if I understand the mounting, you'd be leaving your winch mounted all the time. With a front receiver, you get to take it off, put it in the rear receiver or put it in your garage to protect it from the weather and from theft. After all, winches are an investment...
