I am in search of a good mud tire, that costs under 110 bucks a tire. 245-75 R 16, what is the best out there for that price?

Good luck.

The best mud tire would be the Interco's Trxus MT but it'll be more the $110 apiece, can't even get BFG MT's in that size anywhere close to that price.

They don't even make a trxus MT in that size, but what is the difference between a 245-75 R16 and a 235 85 R16????

245/75-30.5" tire
235/85-31.8"-32" tire(depending on the tire)

The first number is the width in mm. The second is the sidewall height in percent of the width number.

so......tire height equation is????

(((245mm/25.4mm/in) x .75) x 2) + 16in = 30.468 inches

Thanks for the help on understanding that.

a 255/70 R 16 is actually smaller in height than a 245/75 r 16??????????

is this all right???

I still need to find a cheap mud tire....

I'm not sure where you're gonna find a new M/T tire for your price. Used on eBay maybe?
I paid $180.00 per tire. These are Richard Cepek's newest M/T "Mountain Cat" tires. I live in the PacNW so I buy from Les Schwab. I dunno who else sells them in this same size LT246/75 R16 and they are "E" or 10 ply. These are 30.5" tall.

The only Mt's I've seen in the $110 range are the Rubicon takeoffs - either from ROF or craigslist -
2 issues - they're normally wheels and tires so you'd have to resell the rims and 03-06 - the 07's won't fit so earlier ones are harder to find.
But's it's possible to get 4 or 5 Goodyear MTR's in the $400-$500 range, they're good for about 30-40000 miles if you rotate them every 3000.

Actually, ya. I've got Kumho's on my Willys. I forgot about that. Duh. I was living in the land of the big drool. Anyways, they do seem to be a pretty good mud tire. They make some road noise, but not too bad.

yeah, but the rack hammers you for $20+ apiece for shipping so in a lot of cases you're better off buying locally.

Here's a pic from a previous post where I was asking about "What's this indent and does everyone have it?" and you can clearly see the tread pattern from the Cepek Mountain Cats:

Interco makes the IROK ND in a 245/74X16. They were about $125 ea last time I looked. The Savero M/T is less than that at the Tire Factory stores last I looked. Hi Tec M/Ts also are in the running.

Dont know what you pay for Coopers over there but the STT is a fantastic tyre, 245/75/16, 255/70/16, 265/70/16 & 265/75/16 + more. They are the top of the price range here but worth every cent I spent.
