Conservation Chair nominations here. All nominations must be seconded to be on the ballot next week.

Responsibilities:
Conservation Chairman whose duty will be to help make arrangements for conservation projects for the club to carry out locally. This includes making contacts with Forest Service (I already have one).

I would be interested only if Pete were to step down. If Pete wants to continue and is able to continue his position, then I will support him. Or, if I can be of service to fill in while he is overseas allowing him to resume his position upon return. I don’t know how the bylaws are written.

All positions are open to whoever, this is not a monarchy, thus elections.

As for Pete he has already stepped down as he won't be back until December '08.
I have the information for his contact at forest service here.

I will second your name in the hat.

I would first like to know some of the responsibilities and duties that would fall under the Conservation Chair?

I'd also like to see some sort of job description posted.
Please let me know how far I'm off, but I think the position is responsible for planning 1 or 2 "conservation runs" per year where we clean up a particular trail. This person is also the "trash nazi" on runs, promoting/enforcing the principles of "Tread Lightly" and "Pack it in, Pack it Out".

More importantly, I would be happy to serve the club in this capacity.

Pretty much, that is it. I have edited all threads to show responsibilities from the by-laws.

Also for this position the Foest Service requests someone good with GPS, and Maps so we can help identify trouble spots that need attention/we could help maintain.

Since James lives in the Denver area, I feel he could better fill this position than I. Even though Sarah and I have participated in 2 club functions in the previous 2 months, our distance away from Colorado Springs/Denver area would make it difficult to be as readily available for this position as someone who is living in the area. If James plans to stay involved with the LOST ROCKIES on a regular basis then I would say he would be ideal for this position.
