If the lift was tested, and I had not just purchased a Frankenlift CRD lift-- I would spend the cash. But I have already done the deed and will keep the OME Frankenlift for now. I would certainly be willing to spend $$ for a good lift-- did on the Frankenlift and may upgrade again at some point.

For any new product in an untested market-- you can expect to spend more cash than for the same product in a mature market. The business owner is incurring more risk by releasing to the untested market. They are also functioning under lower economies of scale, at least initially.

They should get it trail tested by a reputable 4x4 mag, somthing like 4x4 Monthly, Overlander or better still a Jeep mag like Jeep Action Australia http://www.jeepaction.com.au/ . Obviously a US mag would be best, but at least that way we would get a 3rd opinion. Hell, they could get Skyjacker to do a write up as it's there shocks & springs there using (what looks like there's anyway). You'd think they would be keen to do it as a good promotion for there product. You see enough of the Rancho add's on the new JK to think they were the only one's doing a lift for it (perhaps they are).

So, has anyone contacted them to see about getting more info & pics.

Yes more pictures have been requested from them and no a test being done by a magazine would only show it held up for a small amount of time. Having the Skyjacker company do a write up would not work as of course they would say great things. They need to get some lifts out here on the streets (and trails) to show that they will work. Problem is after seeing some other crappy lifts not working and people spending thousands of dollars most do not want to be the tester and pay 2500 for something that may not work. I hope it does and have told them to send me one for testing  at a reduced price. I mean look at Rock Lizard and his front bumper he has been testing his on a KJ for some time now to make sure the final design will work, I know that this lift is on one KJ but only one right? Who wants to be the one to shell out the money and test it?

One question which I honestly don't know that answer to, How much R&D was done in the designing of the Frankenlift? Was it "trail tested" before people started buying them up?

This is a great development! That 4"-5" looks great. However, I agree that more R&D and marketing money needs to be spent to prove that this kit can "walk the walk." Given the potential sales -- aren't there over a million KJs on the road? -- it would be money well spent, even if a small fraction of those KJ owners wheel their rigs. And don't write off the hardcore offroaders who may want to experiment with a KJ after seeing more and more of them (with smaller lifts) on the trails. There's a big market to be tapped. I will be watching for further developments.

This thing definitely needs more of a marketing campaign.

Stay on track. If you want to talk about the Frankie, start a new thread. This is about the Jeepin Al lift.

Clearancing CV joints is certainly nothing new....
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/cvmod/

I wonder if its the same as the old yota trick? And will it work? If thats all its gonna take to make our CV's survive higher angles then......

not trying to get off track my friend, there is a reason why I ask the question, relating to Jeepin Al and all the concerns.

His A-Arm's seem to work pretty well, if that can be used as any indication for the rest of the product.

From the looks of it, alot of time went into this product. If that were not the case, it would have been out years ago.

I do it, but I'd have to slide it under the wife. She'd notice the black hole in the bank account. Looks like I'll have to work some overtime as well.

I have asked and have said I would put it on and try it but nothing back from them. Of course I would need to put a "LIFT KIT" on my garage also so I could get the KJ back inside. I would be a guinea pig and try it. We all know Al put it through its paces but its changed since then as well

One thing all of yall failed to mention is the difference in pricing...this is kinda confusing to me but outta curiousity I added all of the components up individually per the prices offered on HIS site and I got this total for all the supposed components needed for the 4" lift= $2176.28

Now look at the advertised price for the 4" lift on the site= $2,248.95

Where did this $72.67 go?? Check the math I did a couple of times...it dont say that shippin is included so why is it cheaper to buy the components individually rather than in a kit?? Just makes me wonder is all....

Maybe there is hardware included that would have been pointless to list. Although your right in that it should indicate where ALL the cost goes.

You got too much time on your hands. he put it all together for you for $70.
If you all don't like the price of the lift don't buy it. whats the big deal with all the crying

well a tester for the lift would be very nice. Im running the rusty's with and upgraded rear(mainly for towing purposes; i hate the " my suspension is toast because of this trailer" look) and i like what ive been able to do with it so far but for the crawling that i want to do an the size tires i want to run a 2.5 lift is just not going to get it done. NOw about the " walk the walk" part. Im not going ot say that al's stuff is hand down the best product there is and ever will be. That would just be a stupid thing to say because there is always something better; you just have to find it or make it yourself. I do have to say thought that from what i have seen first hand. An also gotten out of this firum and others that his products usually always do what their suppose to and do it well. Next, al has also alway been willing to explain every product he makes or sells by awnsering every serious question he has been asked. He even goes so far as to help those who have no intention of even using his product. Now I dont know about anyone else but those things are onough to make me comfortable to give him the trust needed to not only spend a significant sum of cash but also offer up my main driver; knowing that he has always had a good and more often superior product that is backed up my experience. Im making a sugestion here, If someone doesnt really want to spend the cash maby we could get some kind of testing pool together to purchase a lift, nominate someone to be the "tester", and see if al will discount a lift to make the hit on the paycheck a bit less. I think that would be a decent idea. The same goes for his 6" thats in development.

If they tested the lift, shouldn't there be a test vehicle out there already? If so, where is the info on it and the pictures?

After the Rock Krawler 7-up lift debacle, people are very cautious.

Well I was one of the fortunate ones to see the 6" lift up close and in action on Al's Jeep before he sold it. Now as far as the 4", I believe that it is mostly copied from what JoeJeeper had done custom at Jeff Daniels Jeep. I remember when Al broke his y-link adapter on the trail and had to fix it later that night in camp when we were at the Nor'easter at Paragon. The new design looks a little better since it has pivot points built in as opposed to the original which was more of a drop bracket. As for the front end, Al had custom made a-arms for his creation so I would venture a guess that this design is what he is using now with the larger lifts. The biggest difference I see is that Al originally used a front hitch as a two inch spacer for what amounted to a cradle drop. I don't know what is being done now but I highly doubt that is the case anymore. Just some info I thought I would throw out there for your consideration.
