Sounds like it should work out for ya. Awesome. I wonder if your KJ had been a CRD if it would've gotten the front airborn. I suppose you didin't want to push your luck with the dealer and get a Grand Cherokee steel front diff. but that would've been sweet!

Hope it turns out well!

Did you get it back yet? How did it turn out. Any difference in the new diff from the old?

Got it back Friday afternoon. With the replacemetn of the diff I had forgotten that an alignment would be done because of the removal of the suspension and such. The ride is now improved and I have a new front diff...all is well, even tested the 4WD to make sure it engaged properly and there were no sounds and all seems to check out just fine...I think I'll like Gossett as a dealer, they've helped me out quite a bit, not to mention with a little cohersion it made things better but still at least there was no grief passed on to me about Chrysler calling them about a rental or getting the part there sooner. I'm happy...

so whats this i keep hearing about a gc steel diff? Al i can ever find about it is that well you could get one. I would like to know if it all bots in right...... and pretty much all the information anyone would ever want on it. An also ive been looking through all the different threads and i canf find a picture of one of these collars actually installed. Maby i just dont understand it because i cant see any of these pictures but how is a collar down thd line fron where these craks are helping at all? To me it seems like youd want to weld in some sort of plate inbetween the ribs on the diff itself. I would think that would be the better aproach. Ive also noticed that some of the people that have had blown diff got the replaced for free. Now i know a few of those were stated that they were still covered under the origional warrenty. A few though didnt have anything said about them. Is DC replacing one that have blow if you B*tch about it enough? IF anyone can gimme a good run down about all this stuff that would be very appreciated.

oh i forgot to add something here. I thought that there wasnt any kind of replacement for the 30a front. So how can a grand cherokee diff work?

Thats what I was thinking too...I might just have to head on over to a local junk yard and check out a Grand Cherokee if they got one and see what the deal is in getting some parts switched around for the better....hmmmm, the gears are turning...literally

The Grand Cherokee uses an IFS version of the Dana 44. I doubt it will be a simple bolt in, but maybe with some fab of brackets it could be made to fit, However, you may also be looking at different half shaft thickness and length and therefore problem with the knuckles and wheel bearings.

well im assuming that its going to be a bit expensive but i think it would be a lot better than throwing 10k+ into an sfa. An i didnt hear impossible either. I think ill start looking in to that too. I know that there are a few people that have allready had custom shafts made so why not make ones for these to.
