what does it take to install moog LBJ's? Ive nearly replaced everything else up front, might as well do those too...

I have never done LBJs. are they press fitted in? need any special tools to get old ones out? ect?

Thanks

I just pulled mine off and took them to a shop and had the old pressed out and new ones pressed in, took them about ten minutes or less to do. Of course I replaced one at 53000 and the other at I think 82000  easier and cheaper than me doing it

If youve never done it then its a good idea to take the knuckle off and take it to a shop. I had a heck of a time getting the joints pressed out and back in, but getting the knuckle off was a snap.

To remove/install the LBJ's you will need a master call joint kit that looks like this-----

The price ranges from $100-$500 depending on the quaility of the kit.You can rent the kits from some auto parts stores also.A impact makes short work of removal/install,used my electric impact and it was a breeze.

Thanks. Best friend is an ex-ford tech, hobby mechanic, and most importantly, my TEACHER. he basically did the FL install, but I learned it all and feel i could do it pretty well now. if he has a BJ puller we should be good to go, other wise might rent one, or take the knuckles in. not planning to do them until they get bad but nice to know what it takes...

thanks fellas...

My thing in taking the knuckles in was the shop is about a mile away, and they charged me like 5 bucks each time. Cheaper to me for sure, but if your buddy has the tools you should be good for sure!!
