I had the same symptoms @ 16K. Here's the TSB. I printed it and took it into the dealer. Rear brakes, hardware and rotors replaced. No question.

Zonie you must have a paid subscription for accessing this site :-( Any chance this could be provided as a pdf or something for our community?

Just got the Lib back from the shop, and with 42k they're recommending:

Front brakes - $251
Brake Fluid Flush - $128
Front and Rear differential service $280
Transfer Case Service - $89
Transmission Flush $205

Their service department (Town and Country Jeep - Milwaukie OR) seems to have competent techs and good service, FYI.

Does anyone have recommendations on aftermarket pads which are better than the factory pads?

Not specific, but in general - leaning towards the high-end metallic (don't know about ceramic) pads is potentially counter-productive for 'normal' drivers as all it does is accelerate wear on the more expensive and difficult to replace rotor... pads are easily replaceable. This from someone in the business, who said the shops like to metallic/ceramic high-end stuff because it generates more work (rotor replacement, turning, etc.) and therefore brings in more revenue.

Food for thought.

Upside of the 'better' pads can be, of course, resistance to fade on long/hard stops or long downgrades, towing, etc. I think pretty much everything has some metal content any more... so, be careful with the extremes.

Wear sensors, on the other hand, are a nice option to check for since missing the point-of-no-return where the pads are gone and it becomes metal-to-metal almost guarantees new rotors!

Worth checking for.
