I see most of you are saying any where from 12" to 36" deep but is that on the trails or road? Like someone else said once you get high centered on the stuff you are S&*T out of luck, and believe me it really doesn't take much if you are on a trail! I would say that last winter i was in about 22" 's or so and was breaking a trail in some wet stuff (not that nice fluffy snow) and that was the most i wanted to do without beating the jeep to bad!( I don't trust those CV's and front differential when the KJ bounces!

Trying to get back into my driveway - about 4 feet of snowplowed in snow and ice chunks. Almost got high centered on ice/snow chunks coming in at an angle. Had to back out and go to 4-lo and then drove right through it streight on. It was really a mess because the driveway was not shoveled yet either. Skids were packed solid.

great...my garage is gonna be a watery mess this winter!!!

Mine usually is ......hehe

During last years big snow I was one of the only ones able to get out of my driveway. I had snow over the bumper and had no problems what so ever in full time 4wd. My Libby has ESP which seems to work very well in snow. Heck my wife pulled my Chevy 1ton out of the drive way when it got stuck.........lol Now mind you its was a dry light snow not packed. But thats when the Libby really started growing on me. It was doing so much better than my Rubi. Not that my Rubi doesn't do fine, it just takes a lot more effort to keep it from sliding around, the Libby I couldn't make slide around, in fact I tired to do donuts in a parking lot, it wouldn't do them till I switched off the ESP.

Snow travelling on pavement
Liberty-about 20-25 inches (thanks to the plows pushing it into driveway off of street  ) Driving I think the most consistant was 20" as the plows could not keep up and it kept piling up. I just locked the ARB in the rear, only had to put it in 4 low to get started after I stopped, then went back to 2 wd w/ARB locked in rear.

Subaru- Same amount, although at first it pushed it unti I floated to the top and was fine. 4 Low for the Subaru though, with studs on the front, but that doesn't matter in snow. as soon as I stopped and the snow melted a little and I sank, I had to crawl out the window and dig a little, then continued on. No chains either. Light little Subaru is a beast, and it can stop in snow unlike the KJ that is too heavy and slides as soon as the brakes are pressed.

AH come on,if you get stuck in snow it is so easy to get yourself out, start digging untill you clear all the snow from under your vehicle till your wheels are back on solid ground.Way to easy,I have never been pulled out from being stuck in snow, always dug myself out.

I need to share my story, it's not in my KJ, as I didn't have it at the time, but interesting I think none the less.

I was driving home at night after a snow storm, there wasn't too much snow, probably a few inches on the road, but enough to keep me going slow, which turned out to be a really good thing.

I was going to get off at an exit on the highway, I went to take it when all the sudden WHAM!! My truck slammed to s top and there I was, stuck in the stupid snow bank where the exit departs fully from the highway.

It turns out the plows only were plowing enough of the snow off the road to keep it useable, but all that space that is normally there to use was taken up by a snow bank, the chevron sign was quite further back, or should I say, the snow bank was quite a bit farther forward than you would expect. Since there was a few inches of snow on the ground, and it was at night, there was absolutely no way to tell the bank was there. Everything had a fresh coat fo pure white snow on it.

Fortunately I wasn't going fast enough to do any damage, just enough to get me stuck and have to dig out before I could get my 2wd nissan pickup out of the snow.

Walmart has a cool compact plastic shovel for around 8 bucks that should work well for this. I plan on getting one and throwing it in the back just in case...

I keep this one in the back of my Jeep. Don't know why ... we hardly get snow here.

Three and a feet of snow last year during the Valentines Day Snowstorm. The KJ took it like a champ.
