KJ in a Tight Spot is looking to set up a run at Bald Mt. Near Fresno. Putting this out to anyone down here in SoCal that might be interested.

The post is here:

I think he's looking at the next couple of weeks or so before Turkey day.

I have gotten some interest in maybe doing this trail as a NorCal run so here goes...

There are literally dozens of great trails east of the Fresno area in the Sierra Natl Forest, but this is one standout that I particularly enjoy cause it can easily be done in a few hours if rushing or could be turned into a day run taking out time and shootin pics and messin round on the rocks and such. I dont know if any of yall have done this trail before but I can literally run it in my sleep so I will volunteer to TB this one if nobody else wants to...I dont have a KJ but Ill take that fact that yall do into consideration Wink

Location: Located east of Fresno off Highway 168 near Shaver Lake, CA. Approx. time from Fresno is 1 hr 30 min. or less depending...

Recommended Equipment:
Recovery points front AND rear
Full skids and sliders (HIGHLY recommended)
Lift (recommended)
Offroad tires (recommended)
Strap
Hi-Lift (recommended in case but not necessary)
Rear locker (recommended but not necessary)
CB (recommended)
Camera Laughing

This aint the most difficult trail in the area, that honor goes to Dusy Ershim, one that yall prolly cant do in a KJ unless body damage aint an issue Laughing . However Bald Mt. is a GREAT intermediate trail with PLENTY of chances to make it as hard as yall want it to be...it ranges from loose dirt climbs, to rock climbs, to slickrock climbs, to open granite at the top. The destination is the abandoned fire lookout atop the trail which overlooks all of the Shaver area and Shaver Lake in the distance. This is a very seinic trail with plenty of poser and picture ops along the way!! Like I said, once clear of the woods it opens up into basically a big natural granite wasteland that seems endless and has plenty of playspots on rocks and such. This is an IDEAL run for some of yall wantin to try out rocks but not wanting to beat the hell outta your KJ...it is as hard as you make it kinda trail with bypasses for the "hard" stuff Cool

Like I said I am willing to be the TB for this run and I am also willing to allow stock KJs on this run on one condition...you take full responsibility for the likelihood of damage to your jeep. I am confident in my spottin ability to get a stocker up this trail cause there are only a few parts that would give it some problems that I can think of, but I AM NOT responsible for the damage caused by the numerous rocks and obstacles on this trail that will likely jump at a stocker KJ Laughing

Again, this will be a fun oriented run and many of yall might have other friends interested in comin or buyin a jeep, this'll be the trail that'll hook em!!! Guaranteed!!! So lemme know what yall think and Id like to do this ASAP before the snow gets to be a problem as my winch is on the fritz!!

Now that I have seen the pics and read up on it. I would love to get up there and we Really need to make a Northern Cali trip a priority for 08.

I would love to get Matts son out on a trail ride somewhere up there in memory of Matt.

I will not be happy if another year goes by that I don't make it up to run the Rubicon either. I gotta get back there too.

I agree. I'd love to see us go up there for a run (or more) since so many of them come down here to run with us. I plan on trying to attend some NorCal runs since I spend alot of time in Fresno.

Do you have much contact with his son? Try running it by him and see what he thinks. Heck he might have even ran the trail.
