I've got some question about the process when you get some time.

Did you remove the lights before you painted them or just tape it off?

Did you just paint the factory lights with the nightshades, or did you buy the clear corners and then paint them?

Thanks.

Welcome Aboard Devil Dog.... Im sure you will get all the answers you seek in here.

Semper Fi Doc! btw...those tires look good on your Jeep

Tom....does the finish look shiny...comparable to the finish on the Jeep, or can you tell a difference? Did you use clear after you used the nightshades? Thanks.

Well, i cas nayone else was interested in this process... here is a link to a thread in a sports car forum that has almost six pages of discussion on trial and errors and successes: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=447719

It is pretty comprehensive.

instead of buying the vht stuff just get a black candy. thats all it is anyway. it will end up being a lot chaeper. and if you dont want black theres a candy in just about every color. and clear lights except for reverse lights are illigal in just about every state. Its just not something that you will most likely ever get pulled over for. Even then if you did it would most likely be juist a "fix it" warning

Right, but if you have a yellow blinker it's not a problem. If you keep it clear, like you said, it's illegal.

Thanks, it's good to know. I contacted VHT to see what type of clear they recommended and to paraphrase them: We don't recommend a certain clear. We have had inconsistent, unpredictable results coating Niteshades with clear. Sometimes it comes out great but other times it cracks, adheres improperly, or discolors. We recommend testing a spot before use.

She said sometimes the Niteshades doesn't go on right to begin with and to make sure the light is completely clean, because the lights are coated with lubricant to prevent scratching during shipping. I will probably do like tom on the main lights and test the running lights with some clear.

I did this to my last car. The nightshades stuff works great. If I owned a black vehicle I would do it to my KK but since I own silver... looks like white out time. :(

Here's your Jeep from the side...

Image

All the other pics are pretty blurry of your Jeep. It looks glossy enough. Is that because you waxed it? Was it pretty flat to begin with?

Do the lights still shine through the tint well enough?
