This will just be an introduction run to Wellsville, and we will most likely stay on the main loops. Try to get there by 9:30 so we have a little time to get aquainted, air down, ect.. Pack a lunch, this is not a picinic. If a lot of people show, we may have to split into groups, in which case I'll most likely lead ours, and might need a driver for my rig so I can be free to get out take pics, spot, ect.

Remember, this is not a LOST run persay, this is Jasons M&G from Jeepin Ohio.

I wouldn't plan on wheelin it down there without a lift if I were you.
Do you at least have tow points front and rear, skid plates :?: If not, leave it at the rest area and ride the trails with someone that does.

ok i might leave it at the rest area. im not sure if there is a spot to park near the entrance of the "trail" or if it would even be safe there(i heard some nasty stuff from wellsville if you leave your vehicle unattended, like a brand new 07 suburban totally stripped with the 30day tags still on it because it was left stuck in the mud)

i have a rear hitch, front renegade oem tow hooks, and full skids except the tranny skid, i have transercase, front engine and rear gas tank.

Hey Guys,

Jason here from J.O.. Glad to hear you guys are coming.

I have a new to me XJ with some very minor mods, so I will NOT be out to trash this thing. It's not anywhere close to being as built as my TJ was (if any of you had ever seen it) so I couldn't go on the hard stuff if I wanted to!

For those of you who do want to do harder stuff we will put you in a group you will be comfortable in.

Anyway....since there seems to be so much interest in this ride, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting some decals. They would be similar to the ones we had for Halloweenie (4x6) and would go for about $5/ea. I'm working on a design now and hope to have them to the printer by the end of the week.

If anyone is interested please let me know so I have an idea of how many to get.

Other than that...cant wait till the 24th!

I'm not sure what the "harder stuff" entails, but I'm willing to work through some obstacles.

KJ04 - On the difficulty meter (1-5, 5=difficult), where would you place the rock garden or hill climbs on your cardomain page? Most of them look pretty tricky, but if that's not the "harder stuff" I'd like to know.

Rating obstacles :?:
For this modified Rubi on 37's, he would have probably rated this obstacle a one, as he walked over it like it wasn't even there.... For a Liberty, impossible!

Considering our limited ground clearance (lifted) and our limited articulation you can easily get burried in a tire rut these monsters make.

A lot of things are doable if the conditions are favorable, you take the right lines, you're modded well enough, and if you have the balls to do it, along with the risks of damage involved. Some days the regular trails are just plain difficult to get around on.

Wellsville's hilly terrain is ever changing because of all the water run off. A trail or obstacle that was passible last month might not be this month because of fallen trees, errosion, and flooding caused by storms. However, this is what keeps Wellsville interesting and always an adventure.

You'll notice I have no pics of hairy off-camber situations when my pucker meter was doing a 9.9 on a scale of 1-10, heart pounding, and a white knuckled death grip on the steering wheel while 3 guys are racing over to jump on my rock bars to balance me out and stuffing something under the wheel to make the drop down. (But gee, those Wranglers I was following on 35's made it look so easy) All those good pics get away and you just have the memories of what could have been.

I'll let you do the ratings after you finish the run, I'm not good with numbers.

Fair enough. I guess what I'm really asking is... How available are turn-offs or by-passes? I'd hate for someone to leave their rig behind or skip this run only to say "I could have done that!" while out on the trail.

Although, I bet there haven't been too many Liberties running this park, right? I would never have been able to clear the routes in Livingston if no other KJ infront of me already had. I now feel comfortable judging what I will and won't try in the KJ.

I think that anyone unlifted should leave the vehicle behind, at least for this first run for most of us. Once we all see what its like, maybe they'll be able to come later. But, I think that its better safe then sorry! I think it was pretty crazy for me to bring my unlifted kj to Livingston that first time, but there were plenty of people there that knew the terrain really really well, so it turned out ok. This is a different situation.

Also, Livingston doesnt change too much because its mostly rock. I'm pretty sure theres a lot more dirt/mud that can errode at wellsville based on what KJ04 said.

In 3 1/2 years of posting Wellsville on the L.O.S.T. site only one modded KJ(Hoss 75) has ever to come down to wheel with me, and that was back on July 2, 05 when it was dry.

When I first showed up down there in 04, I was reffered to as the "Crazy Fawker" in the Liberty with a L.O.S.T. sticker on the back window by the Wrangler guys on Jeepin Ohio before they knew who I was. So yes, I'm pretty much the only Liberty that shows up down there on a regular bassis.

Yes there are bypasses to get around things and a lot of the obstacles are off-chutes of the main loop. Like I said though, some of the trails get impassable from month to month, and I've even had to winch myself up a steep muddy bypass already.

In all honesty, an unlifted KJ has little chance of getting around very well down there this time of the year especially after you air down , it's just to low. If it was the dry season (July, August) I'd say heck, give a shot. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get down there.

I'm not trying to scare anyone away, just trying to tell it like it is from my experiences.
As long as you're lifted, have basic armor, decent tires(not stock) and tow points front and rear with a tow strap and stay on the main trail you should be good to go.

My first year down there I had the ARB bumper, lift, aggressive AT's with open diffs, and basic mopar skids, no tranny skid.

Sweet. I'm getting pumped.

Now I need to track down some rattles and squeeks before I make the trip.

Howdy folks...

Just got lifted last week. I'd love to join ya. It will be an inaugural run for both the Libby and I. No boulder bars yet, but have the factory skids. Will have recovery strap and some tools, anything else I should bring?

I'm in for the sticker too....

Dave
