As I read the wire diagram, three wires are cut completely making 6 end to end wire connections (1&2, 4&5, 7&8). Three wires are sideby spliced leaving the original wire in tact (3,6,9) All the wires are conected at plugs C1 or C2 except 9 which has to be sideby spliced at the plug on the TCM (transmission control module)? I see at the left side bottom of the diagram that "C1 T41 Transmission CPU-Park Neutral Sense" Does that mean this wire is also located in the C1 Plug and that all the wires needed are at either C1 or C2? If so, is it located at pin 41 of the C1 plug? Can someone clear this up for me as I am a week away from trying to wire it in. It would be nice if all the connections were at the C1 and C2 plugs but I have read here that 1 wire needs to be longer and goes on the other side of the engine compartment. Another guy talks about making a splice at the MAF sensor plug and the EGR plug but I do not read this diagram that way. I suppose 1&2 and 4&5 could be done at the MAF and EGR plugs but why would you do it there if the other end of the wire is at the C1 plug where most of the rest of the splicing is done? I hope I can get this clear in my mind before I try the install.

Seams this thread has gone cold. My last post was 24 hours ago. LocoCRD came to the rescue again with a PM and got me in contact with a very knowledgeable member, Ranger1. This is his reply to the question "Can the #9 wire be connected to the C1 or C2 plug bundle without having to open the TCM plug and run a separate wire there?"

Ranger1 Answer:
On my CRD, pin 41 of the TCM connects directly via the wiring harness to the C2 pin 17 connector of the PCM. If one wanted to connect to the Park/Neutral sense wire, either pin connection would suffice.

I hopes this helps others

Good Catch!!! I don't know how I missed that one. That would have been so much easier just messing with the engine computer connector instead of both of them. Oh well, sometimes one sneaks by. Good call.....

Well, I'm about to give up on my assembly. I redid all the solder joints, and it still tests the same. I'll go and get a new round of chips tomorrow, and try that. If that doesn't work, I guess I'm out of ideas.

Please, take a good set of photos and either post them or send them to me, and I'll take a look at it. It is rare that the chips will go bad. If I can't tell by the photos, send the assembly to me and I will fix it.

Thanks for the offer. LocoCRD made the same offer previously, and he didn't see anything obvious. But here's hoping! PM sent.

Well, thanks to UFO! He had me run a couple of tests that ended up pointing to a faulty U1 chip, and after replacing that I'm happy to report that things seem to be working much better. It's great when people are so willing to share their knowledge.

I'll install it and let the group know what I find.

Started looking for the wires to splice and had a question. gmctd are these the colors of the wires that I need to get at?

You refrenced these on the post above
ECM\SEGR module wiring
C2-1 - Power - Blk\Vio
C2-2 - Ground - Blk\Grn
C1-68 - AFC - Brn\Gry
C1-85 - MAF - Brn\Orn or Blu\Or
C1-90 - EGR - DkBlu\Vio
C2-17 - T41 - Yel\Red or Yel\DBlu

How did others find the correct wires on the C1 and C2 plugs?

Thanks,

Correction, just checked out the '05

C2-1 - Power - DkBrn\Pnk (or lite violet)
C2-2 - Ground - Blk\Grn
C2-17 - T41 - Yel\DkBlu

C1-68 - AFC - Brn\Gry
C1-85 - MAF - DkBlu\Grn
C1-90 - EGR - DkBlu\Vio

You can verify by referencing the pins in the CPU connectors - I edited the post for correct colors.

On that Tyco/AMP connector: does it matter which gender of pin goes in which half of the connector? From the pics that I can find, it looks like the male pins go into the panel (Hammond box) connector, and the female pins go into the on-cable connector. Is that right?

Just to make Loco and Tim happy,

Some proof that there is some work being done on thier creation;

I finished the "box".

I got a heat sink from an discarded video card. I decided to put enough extra wiring to allow board removal, and put this wiring on the back side. The fuse is covered by the board, so I put a view port on the back of the box.

Next is to install in under the hood. Thinking of putting it under the fuse box behind the drivers side light.
(EDIT... Changed my mind. I am going to put it under the dashboard, driver side. Water is one issue. I also figure, for inconspicous install, the shortest amount of wiring, the better. Since (edit ) ALL of the wires come of of C1 / C2, the splices can be inside the wiring duct, behind the fuel filter assy. From there, it is short distance through a fire wall hole (like the one that Tim Wulf used)or the grommeted hole right behind and below the fuel filter. This hole come out just above the throttle assembly under the dash. There are lots of good spaces up there to mount the box.

The female pins are for the cable connector, George.

Nice work, Bill - do you think maybe the box would need to be fairly waterproof if mounted in behind the headlight?

So I finally got my SEGR hooked up and I took it out for a spin.
I have no power - it took about a minute to get to 30 MPH.
I turned around and came right back home.

If I unplug the SEGR (not reconnecting any of the cut wires) it seems to run ok.
Once I plug the box back in, I am limp again.

Any thoughts?
It seems I may have a bad connection, but I dont even know what to check.

I am having trouble gettiing the TCM connector off.

There is a single hexhead bolt to loosen, but it just gets to tight to turn counter clockwise, without the connector comming off. What is the deal?

Do you have to remove the whole vacuum pump assy to get the TCM connector off?

Removing the bolt removes the connector, Bill - should be room to do so without the Provent cannister - might try connecting that wire to C2-17 Yel\DkBlu stripe in the ECM connector

Longview, you'll need to verify each wire, separately, starting with #1

1 - white - MAF - DkBlu\Grn stripe

2 - white\red - C1-85 - DkBlu\Grn stripe

3 - Red - C2-1 - DkBrn\Vio

4 - Blu - C1-90 - DkBlu\Vio stripe

5 - no color, no connection

6 - Blk - C2-2 - Blk\DkGrn stripe

7 - Yel - C1-68 - Brn\Gry stripe

8 - Yel\Blk str - AFC - Brn\Gry stripe

9 - Vio - C2-17 - Yel\DkBlu stripe -OR- TC1-41 Yel\DkBlu stripe
