I don't think the gap looks all that bad at all, similar to the liberator front end. Just paint all the white behind the bumper, under the flares and showing behind the edge of the grille black and I bet it will look better instantly. I like Darbys idea of some cold air ducts if you can route them to a plenum and then on to the air filter box. It is a Jeep so I would go for functional over perfection in the way it looks. Unless of course they are going to fix it up for you which they probably should.
I would at least get them to move the fairlead mount and redrill the holes so you can mount a winch in the future.
At least you now have it on there. :)

That what I was thinking as well. Paint the areas the same color Gray or even black. The Bumper which obviously needs to be touched up from all the fittings and moving around is the RustOleum Hammered Gray paint. But I too would rather have more function then perfection... Its A JEEP after all  I think I learned on here at some point JEEPS aren't made they are built... But keep the ideas coming .....

Hey DOC glad to see that you got it put on, I wished we could have hooked up some how so I could have helped make it cosmetically appealing. At least it is functional now.

I was thinking if I try 501's idea and put the plastic OEM parts in there, that I eventually want the flares all Line- Xd anyways and that may help with the cosmetics and imperfections with how the plastic will look once I stuff it in there

I noticed on the Rock Lizard rear that it didn't look quite right on a lighter colored KJ as you could see the lighter body behind it so the gaps looked to big and such. On my wifes khaki colored KJ I painted the metal that showed behind it and it looked a lot better instantly. I know others that noticed it on theirs and did the same.

Just shape to metal uppers from the bumper to cover that area and paint to match...maybe even diamond plate for some contrast.

As for the air ducts...It would be easy to run some ducting from the "holes" (especially the passenger side) up to the mouth of the air intake...

Yes. the bumper blends in better if you can't see all the lighter colored metal underneath. On my blue KJ it isn't a problem as the patriot blue is dark enough but on my khaki KJ it looked bad and I just painted back there w/ the same hammered black (dark grey) paint I used on the bumper.

Don't know on the driver's side, but you could take some flexible accordian style hose from the passenger's side hole and run it around the radiator and into the the bottom of the air box. Not much fabrication to do that.

I've been looking at the pictures, and I think using Line-X on the fenders and bumper might make it look better. That Liberator looks pretty good even though there is a space there. I think you would want to coat the newly exposed area too, so it looks like the space is supposed to be there.

After looking at it yes I think if it was mine I would just paint that area to make it more or less unnoticeable and tell everyone it was designed that way. Talk about different, youd have it!

i thiught that the late model rene didnt have holes for the fog lights? If im right in thinking that you could just get a grill for the rene then. That would solve the problem. For the fenders i would try and see if an 04 or earlier fender would fit and just cut from there.

The late model rene has a different grill shape - it goes straight across, as does the rocky mountain edition. All of the sport/limited grills have the holes, and models without foglights had a little slotted/louvered insert.

Seriously! I'm going back and forth, and I can NOT tell the difference in shape. I may be wrong (or going crazy)...

but the only difference I see (and it may be an optical illusion) is that the size of the grille slats is different between the two

wait...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH ok. Nevermind. Get a rennie hood...

Well right now, nothing has changed. its just on there with the gaps still. The guy helping me out is doing this on his free time, he still has a regular job etc etc. Just trying to figure out what we are going to do, with the gaps and if we can incorporate the parts from the OEM bumper. its got us stumped. There is no lip on the underside of the flares to attach the parts we would need to cut of the OEM to stick it to, and the lil plastic tab on there is more or less worthless... Right now the bumper is just Rattle Can Grey Hammered and I painted the white parts behind the gaps to "kinda" had the guts. Also considering painting the grille the same color as the bumper for now to hide the off set of white and to maybe have it blend a little better. I do have a few pics but they aren't that great. but if you would like Ill put em up. Thanks for checking in and asking.
