I have a slow oil leak in my 02 Libby.

Mechanic thinks it is from oil sending unit.

Question is, where is it located? Is is in the oil pan? I'd hate to drop the pan after putting Mobil 1 in there a week ago!

Any thoughts?

Any help?

The oil pressure sending unit is located directly above the oil filter on the 3.7 V-6.

Would the oil pressure sending unit be sometimes called oil pressure switch?

yes i just replaced mine i actually got it from freedom dodge right in lexington! They start leaking out the end of the unit...

You need the oil pressure sending unit. Its directly above the oil filter on the Left hand side of the engine under the battery.

I can get you a picture if you still need it.

Also, you will need a special socket to get it in and out. I had to pick one up at the auto store for ~14 dollars.

let me know if you would like to borrow it and i can work something out with you.

What kind of special socket do you need?

My Jeep came from Freedom!

How much did the unit cost you?

Well i just realized that i dont have an actual image of the part in the jeep. But here are some pictures of the special tool and the part.

Keep in mind they must have redesigned the part because when i went to take the old one out with this tool i found that the old one has regular square cornes like a bolt and the new part had rounded corners, hence needing the "special tool" that tool is a 1 - 1/16" Deep Oil Pressure Switch Socket.

I had to use a 1-1/16" deep well socket to get the old one out.

Pictures - KJ oil pressure switch.

Let me know if you have questions.

PS the pictures are slow loading. My server isn't that great....
