I dig that rack for the low profile. I want to get a lift buy need to clear the garage with the bike racks on. Will a standard Yakima rack fit on the tubular front and rear cossmembers on there (i.e. what diameter are they and what's the length of the basket section)?

another +1 for the Blackwidow basket with wind fairing....great looking, holds more weight than the mopar cross rails allow (150 LBS FOR the Mopar cross rails and 200 lbs for the basket.) Nice low profile at 4.5 inches high in conjuction with the really low profile crossbars.

Had to be in the main office today in Columbus and come home to find my KJs pictures all over the place! 8) 8)
So here you go.....You know my saying, (ITS NOT YOURS TILL YOU DRILL THAT FIRST HOLE IN IT) so I drilled a half inch hole through the side rails, right where there already is two small holes on either side, shoved some 1/2 inch all thread through the side rail, then heater hose on the all thread so no metal to metal contact, then through the other side, have nuts and washers on the inside and outside of the side rails to hold it in place. Works pretty good , now with me and 2 MTRs on Moabs up there, it did bow down some but other than that works great. Have two across by the way. Rack is held on with small u bolts. I do have another plan in the works which will keep it as low or maybe lower and stronger, although I think the rack bowed more than the all thread did.
RL does have a sweet rack and I keep looking at it, but I only have like 50/55 bucks total (basket and mounting it) in mine, so hard to change and spend the extra.

no one even asked about my homegrown wind deflector or where it came from, and no its not a road sign this time

Tom

These weekend I am going to see what I can do to get mine lower. It does sit about 3-4 inches off the roof, due to the mopar cross rails. I would like to get it lower...............hmmmmm

If I figure something sturdy and interesting out, I will most definitely do a write up

What really messes up everything in getting them down nice and low is the curvature of the roof. If they were like the Cherokee then its no problem.
I think I have it fiqured out but need a few more days when I have time. I want it a little lower and then also to hinge at the rear so that you can take two wing nuts off the front and flip it up to wash underneath it. Mines good the way it is really, but as those that know me well all say that I like to play with my toys and I keep changing them all the time

tommudd - Thanks for your reply and info on your low-profile basket. Very informative & interesting. Anyway, what IS the deal with the basket's wind deflector?
