I have an 04 Libby with automatic tranny. It has the 3.7L V6, I want to know what tranny fluid you folks would recommend. It has a lil over 105k miles. I noticed that in my reading there were people with 2 tranny filters, what is that about. I just called the local parts store and got tranny filter is there another I should get? I can't afford to get tranny flushed...PLEASE HELP...Thanks Garrett

I just had this problem.
You MUST use ATF+4 fluid (or equivilent full synthetic - many will say AMSOIL).
Since you've got an '04, your transmission is a 13-bolt 42 rle that requires ONE filter (Unlike some beefier 45rfe trans in 02 and 03 that require two). I had to pick up a filter kit for an 04 Wrangler X because my parts store still showed the 15-bolt 45rfe as the transmission in '04 Liberties.

Must not have search too good, found this thread with your answer for the tranny fluid in the second sentence...

As for the fluid, yes its ATF+4...

If you got yourself an owners manual ALL the fluids needed to maintain your jeep are in there...
