George Carlin always said "Nail two things together that have never been nailed to gether before and some schmuck will buy it." The reason they buy it is because it is advertised well. The old saying "Build it and they will come." only works if they know it is there in the first place.

Every editor for a newspaper or magazine will reluctantly admit, "PICTURES SELL" and for that to be effective they must be good pictures. That looks like a hell of a design to me, but I know what it would look like in a better picture. It would sell itself. Right now it is only being admired by the people who have experience with the aftermarket bumpers and fabrication process. NOT YOUR TARGET MARKET, I would assume. Pretty limiting.

Let the pictures sell it, there for let the bumper be photographed so it shows off it's atributes, quality and design, so you can build and install em, not explain them.

Question. What is the loop on top of the bumper for exactly (pushing tree limbs etc. over the hood?) Always wondered what they were for.

Thanks

On most bumpers for YJ and CJ and what not they are for the approach angle. to keep the bumper from hanging up on anything as it works through an obstacle. Might be more or less decoration on a KJ. Not sure that steep of an approach would be wise for something that can't handle that much ground clearence.

While the stinger looks cool, how much weight would be saved by not having it?

Skid plates, rear RL bumper, and front bumper, two adults, two kids, full camping gear ... this all adds up to seriously porky number :)

That is a great question. Assuming it is structural and not cosmetic, it would have to be stout. so an estimate of around the weight of one small child or at least 2-3 cases of beer for the camping trip would seam reasonable to me.

Stingers are useful for that too.

WOW!

I can safely say I hope my KJ never does that.

IMO if you could...build something flat to the grille like the liberator concept. I think it looks much better than the bumper that stick two feet out...

ARB could meet you 1/2 way I think, but the only 2 foot bumper I've seen or close to it is the new JK stock bumper.

wow, I'm impressed! I've pretty much trashed my stock bumper from wheelin' so I'm itching to get a new one.

I'm in the Seattle area as well, I wonder if there is any discounts on shipping multiple bumpers out here that we could pick up in one shipment?

I also want to purchase sometime between Jan and Feb 1st. (Late Christmas present for myself =D)

Ok guys its true i will quit pretending to be a photographer im busted.

I will have one finished over the weekend that I am shipping out monday that will just be primered grey so I will get some pics and the weight of that one it will be minus the stinger and the outer light holes.

I dont know maybe if someone is close to me that may want a better deal that is a photographer   they will contact me

The stinger is strong however It is not designed to hold the weight of the jeep like in the video  WOW. notice how long and how it is tied into the outer edges as well that one is designed for that purpose.

I've been struggling to decide whether I want the stinger or not. I like the way it looks, but I've always tried to avoid any mods that look good but don't have any real function. I've wracked my brains trying to come up with a practical use for that stinger, and all I can think of is that you could use it as a handle to hold the KJ down if it's flipping over backwards...but that's the LAST place I'd want to be holding on to! You'd want to use a strap in that scenario.

The only real reason I can think of to keep the stinger is so that I can help JHCRASH show off his work at EJS and the LOST Safari. But maybe someone will be there with an '05+ model with the stinger, so people can compare the look with and without.

That stinger would come in handy if it had a D ring on it. That way you could hook up a log for firewood and tow it out backwards. The stinger would keep the end up high to clear the bush.

The main reason I like the stinger is that I think they look good. And to mount lights to for some reason I like lots of lights It may have to do with a situation me and a friend were in a few years back and very glad we had lights to help out but that story doesent really fit in here although It was a cj we were in at the time. :D Man I love jeeps.
