Chuck did not put a time limit on the 20% off...probably good till the end of the year.

6mm is just a hair thicker that .250 so 1/4 would be probably close enough.

Maybe I'm missing something in the previous posts, but 20% off of what price amounts per skid plate? Is there a price breakdown available?

Thanks.

ETA: Never Mind. I just saw the pricing sticky post. My bad.

is it just me or do you have to remove the tranny skid in order to remove the oil filter? or is that common to all skid plates?

I do not think you have to remove the skid to remove the oil filter...you can reach from the side and I believe there is enuff room to back it off. There is also an access hole to reach the drain plug.

The Tranny/Transfercase skid is the nicest piece of all...

yeah there looks to be enough room to remove it... but it also looks like the top of the skid will then be covered in oil. doesn't look like theres any slots cut into it to allow the oil to drain from the filter into a pan.

If you drain the oil first...then pull off the oil filter...it should go pretty smoothly...I have not needed to change mine since the install so this is all just a guess...but by looking at it, I think it will be pretty easy and not very messy.

Any news on if they are making skids for a 03 gasser? Price? And lastly, how well have they worked? I checked their web site and they only have skids for 04 CRD and don't mention the price.

Ooo, I hadn't known about these! Our CRD did not come with the factory skid plate group, so we have the factory eggshell engine skid only with no transmission skid. The engine skid has a nice dent in it, probably from a strong gust of wind or an excessively large insect. I've been thinking about putting the Mopar skids on, especially now that we have a Fumoto valve on the vehicle, but these might be a more interesting solution.

What's the best place to buy these? Who was the original group buy with? Do they come with the needed nutserts for those of us who are not replacing steel skids? I did some searching and found discussions on the skids themselves and a link to the ASFIR page, but no information on where to buy.

They come with only 4 bolts while 10 are needed. I installed mine last week.

I got the engine+tranny skid. You don't get those rivets/nutzerts/?? for installing them into your hexagonal holes in the underbelly frame. Buy them off a jeep dealership. Get those 4 bolts with you from someone else. They are 10.9 bolts you need for the nutzerts/rivets/?? and 8mm bolts for nearly everything else.

The stuff which is not 8mm is included with the asfir armor.

EDIT:

I should say you need 4 x 10.9 bolts and 4 x rivets for the tranny install. And you need 2 x 8mm bolts for the engine skid. Rest is in the box.

Dealer supplied me with:

4x K06505294AA Rivet
4x K06503571 Bolt

This stuff fits a 2003 KJ CRD.
Price was steep. Get bolts from someone else. $5 a piece, rivet or bolt.

I got mine from Team Bertelsen (danish supplier and offroad shop).

They gave me such a good discount they were nearly the same price as the std mopar ones would've been. Now I'm glad I didn't go with those ...

That's about right - same price was quoted for me before I got a rebate.

Yup they're darn expensive, wouldn't have bought mine without the rebate!!
