Do you have an outlet in the cargo area of your Jeep? I have a cig lighter outlet right by my CD Changer in the rear, that would likely be most convenient for me. Would a 75Watt plug in inverter be fine to run a string or two of lights? It's a great idea, which decorates your rig and gets lots of looks and smiles for about $20, I am in!!!

I'd like to run lights on my KJ but I'm struggling on how to mount them without a roof rack. Anyone aware of any magnetic hooks/holders or something else? Any info would be appreciated. :D

Wrap them around your roof rails.

I have a trail ride on the 15th. but after that I'm going to put a small tree in my basket. Lights on the tree and around the basket! :D The wife will throw a fit most likely! But, she will get over it.

zip ties will hold them in place nicely. Just remember not to get one with red or blue bulbs. Most places have silly laws against that...especially if they blink.

Amber is the only color that you will never get hassled for. Red facing the front is illegal as well as white facing the rear. Blue is for police and green is for military convoys. The cop that hassles you for these violations is probably looking to add charges to you ticket or is a Scrooge.

can't imagine getting stopped for this but I will be sure and find out as I just put an 18' set of white lights in pine garland all the way around my roof bars and cross bars. ran the wire in a groove down through the back hatch and into a small extension cord to reach my inverter that is just sitting in the back plugged into the rear outlet. pictures to follow.

A set of multicolor bulbs should be fine too. As long as it's they are not ALL red or blue, etc. Multicolor will show no prominance of either color when lit, so shouldn't affect any laws.
